Strolling in summer sunshine : My Actifit Report Card: June 29 2026

As the end of June approaches and therefore the halfway point in the current year, it is good to enjoy this lovely summer weather we are having. It could be so different as has happened in past years that I can remember.

Nature seems to be thriving as a result of the sunshine. But of course we have also had enough rain to nourish the ground too which is essential for a healthy environment. The balance has to be right.

One thing that I have noticed lately is the large numbers of seagulls that have flown inland to rest on the lakes and grassland. They normally return to the coast after a few days. We are situated about 20 miles from the nearest costal area so that is not far for a sea bird. But they have stayed for about two weeks now, making a real noise mornings and late evening 🙄. They hang around building tops and grassed areas as their webbed feet are not suitable for tree roosting.

That's interesting, we are about the same distance from the Pacific Ocean, and the seagulls fill the parking lot looking for any leftover scrap food from fast food restaurants, they are interesting sea birds!!👍😇
