Cloudburst! : My Actifit Report Card: May 14 2026
We are in the direct line of some seriously heavy showers coming from a strong northerly air stream. Just before leaving to go out the sky turned dark and there was one single thunder clap! This was followed by a heavy shower of hail stones. The ground was soon covered in the white ice. We were lucky that it stopped within a few minutes, giving way to sunshine again but there was a threat of more showers all the time.
This unusual cold weather is all caused by a loop in the jet stream, which is drawing down arctic air across the UK. This woll continue for a few days more.
This is all familiar to me. This kind of cold and unsettled weather can give way to hot conditions in a matter of days going into summer. Lets hope so! 😁

Sounds a lot like it is here in the Pacific Northwest! We often can have every type of weather-all within the same day! It's crazy!
Hopefully the ice didn't damage much; thinking mainly of plants and baby birds! Too little to hurt a car much!
