We love our street markets here in the UK. We have them once a week here in Crawley, which is quite typical of most town markets, I think.
I seem to remember in my childhood that markets were bigger than they are now, spreading along whole high streets. Traffic was diverted for this, but of course, there were fewer cars on the roads in those days.
I can remember the crowds of people coming to town to browse and buy from this weekly spectacle. There were hot food vans as well, even coppers walking amonst the crowd, something you dont see these days!
