We have in our town centre a strange mosaic. I have no idea what it is supposed to represent, but it is a curious thing. There are no plaques or other signs of any description to be seen.

The two characters look reminiscent of chess pieces, and there are checkerboards in the piece too. So it looks like the game of chess is the subject here, but it's anyone's guess!
