A ride along Worth Way : My Actifit Report Card: January 21 2025

I took the opportunity today to take a cycle ride as the next few days look damp or even wet! It was cold at about 4°C but dry and clear. As it turned out, it was a very pleasant ride. I opted to cycle to Crawley Down village along a dismantled railway route now called Worth Way.

Worth Way goes all the Way to East Grinstead town, about eight miles from Crawley but I turned around at the half way point today as daylight was getting short.

My first photo stop was in Tilgate Park. A view of the large lake as I passed by. After negotiating some town residential roads I emerged onto the main track. The route has some very long straight sections as it followed the old train route.

I passed a few people with dogs and other cyclists. On the whole, it was quiet.
This track crosses the motorway M23 via a footbridge and is actually classified as a bridalway, so horses are a common sight along this route.

Although it was cold, i didn't feel chilly at all. I kept up a good pace today to combat the cold and to increase fitness. Im building up for the longer rides in warmer conditions of spring and summer. As the days lengthen it feels more like spring is closer.

It is always good to get out and cycle, even on cold days like today. I always feel great after a ride, especially if i have kept up a good pace. Todays ride was 16.5 miles and the duration 1 hour 40 minutes with some brief stops for photos etc.
