My Actifit Report Card: September 14 2026
It appears that Eddie Howe saw the handwriting on the wall when he decided to walk away from Newcastle United. After key players such as Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes were snapped up by other clubs, I knew that new boss Matthias Jaissle will struggle this season.
Those fears have now come to be true as the Magpies have been struggling to even win matches. This started with the opening day (2-2) draw with Liverpool at home. They thrashed a hapless Spurs (0-2) away and then went back to reset at home with a (2-2) draw with Bournemouth.
The Monday night football against Leeds United away at Elland Road exposed their weakness further with Leeds whitewashing them by (4-1).
With that result - a cumulative of two wins and two draws, Leeds have moved up to third in the Premier League after four games with only Manchester City and Arsenal having more points than them.
Will this momentum continue? Time will tell.
