My Actifit Report Card: August 16 2026
Hurray!!! WAFCON has a new champion on board. With the exit of perennial champions the Super Falcons of Nigeria from the championship coupled with the exits of other heavyweights that have won it in the past, everyone knows that a new champion is possible.
When the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon and the Scorchers of Malawi qualified for the finals it became even clearer that a new champion will emerge. I rooted for the giants slayers - the Scorchers of Malawi due to how they crushed every opponent that came their way enroute to the finals..
But the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon came and subdued them, pumping in three unreplied goals (3-0) against them.
By that win the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon won their first WAFCON trophy after having played in the finals for three previous times without success. The record holding Super Falcons of Nigeria defeated them on those three occasions.
Malawi did not bow out like that anyway as one of their players won an individual award - the tournament's top scorer which went to Temwa Chawinga who scored 5 goals and assisted two to beat other contenders who were also on 5 goals.
