Happy new month everyone and warm welcome to the month of August. The Super Falcons of Nigeria can now breathe a sigh of relief as the six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala proved the difference as she scored the decisive goal in the eighth minute against a stubborn Zambian side.

That (1-0) victory over Zambia have given them 3pts and thus 2nd on the log after two matches. They are now second ahead of Zambia albeit on goal difference. That victory did not come that easy as Nigeria played the greater part of that match with 10 players after Oluwatosin Demehin was sent off in the 40th minute.

And with Egypt still to come and the knockout rounds now looming, the Super Falcons have reminded everyone that experience, resilience and an unwavering winning mentality can still outweigh setbacks.
Let's hope that they overcome Egypt in their last group game match to seal their knockout qualification.
