We are finally approaching the business end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the round of 16 commencing with co-hosts Canada vs Morocco. However, Canada became the first co-host to exit the 2026 World Cup as they well and roundly pounded (3-0) and eliminated from the tournament by Morocco who pumped in three unreplied goals against them in Houston. Those goals however came in the second half of the game with Girona midfielder Azzedine Ounahi scoring twice on the day.

The next round of 16 match was between Paraguay vs France. Paraguay's first World Cup appearance since 2010 ends with last-16 exit. Kylian Mbappe's penalty in the 70th minute was all that France needed to overcome a stubborn Paraguay side who played the game as if they were playing an NFL league match.
