Hello, beings of light!
The day is brimming with cultural options in my city. Among the many choices available, I want to share with you a unique photography exhibition that opened this past Monday, which I was able to attend and thoroughly enjoyed.

Why do I say "unique," you might ask? Well, it turns out that these photographs, taken by Julio Valdés Méliz, are accompanied by poems that another great artist of ours has given us in a truly unique way. I'm referring to José Antonio Fulgueiras Domínguez, who offers us his poems pyrographically engraved on pieces of yagua, the bark of royal palms that represents the roots of the peasant culture native to our countryside and the most remote areas of the country.

In addition, the inauguration had another gift for the attending public: the presence of José Manuel Silverio and his sons enlivening the moment with the poetic décimas to the purest rhythm of peasant tunes in keeping with what was presented.

The authors of the exhibition, Julio and Fulgueiras (as he is better known in the cultural sphere), share peasant roots and wanted to pay a deserved and necessary tribute to them.

Julio, the photographer, has developed an artistic eye through photography, having previously participated in several group exhibitions.

Fulgueiras, the poet, has published more than thirty books in various literary genres, receiving numerous awards throughout his career as a writer.

As you can see, nature and rural life are the common inspiration for these artists from central Cuba.
Here, their works (photographs and poems) engage in dialogue to keep alive the Cuban traditions that authors like Samuel Feijó and Onelio Jorge Cardozo explored in their costumbrista literature.
The exhibition presents images of palm trees, rivers, trees, and farming implements that envelop and accompany the lives of farmers, capturing with keen insight the essence of their work and their environment.

The exhibition's title, Rhymed Lens, reflects this dialogue between image and word, where the camera lens and poetic meter intertwine to offer the viewer a journey through memory, nature, and Cuban rural identity.

Through these works, the authors invite us to rediscover and celebrate the cultural richness of Villa Clara, making each photograph and each verse a tribute to the people and the land that gave them birth.

I don't think it's necessary to add much more to these images; all that remains is for you to enjoy their details and, as I always say, don't forget to smile!
Until the next exhibition, I send each of you a hug of light!
