Bangladesh is known as a country of rivers. Numerous rivers have crossed the heart of Bangladesh. Most of which originate outside the country. Again, there are some that originate in Bangladesh.
Among them, the Rupsha River flowing through the heart of Khulna district is particularly noteworthy. This Rupsha River is known as the River of Animals. The Rupsha River occupies a special place in our hearts due to its natural beauty, economic importance and cultural heritage.
It is located to the east of Khulna city. It flows in a winding path towards the Sundarbans. Water is available in this river all year round. The play of tides is most fascinating here. The people live with rural life on both sides of the river. It is most pleasant to see the scene of fishermen fishing. These fishermen live around the river.
The Rupsha River is the connection point for people from Khulna to Mongla or its surroundings. The Rupsha Bridge connects the people of the southern part of Bangladesh, including the capital Dhaka. The Rupsha Bridge is also known as the Khanjahan Ali Bridge.
The Rupsha River plays an important role in the economy of Khulna. Numerous boats, launches, cargo and trawlers pass through the river every day. Since there is water all year round, it plays an important role in the transit of Bangladesh. The Rupsha River contributes a lot to fishing, boat traffic and transport of goods. The area around this river is especially important for the export of shrimp and other marine fish.
