“I’ve been staring at the edge of the water…”
That line from Moana's “How Far I’ll Go” hits differently when you stop singing it and actually listen to it.
She wasn’t just singing about water. That ocean was her calling, her purpose, her truth. And yet… all she could do was stare. Wanting. Hoping. Wondering.
How many of us are like that?
Staring at the edge of something big. Something that scares us.
A dream. A talent. A business idea. A course. A move. A purpose.
It’s right there, in front of you — but you haven’t stepped in.
Because… what if it doesn’t work?
What if you fail?
What if they laugh?
What if you disappoint them?
But here’s my question: what if you don’t?
What if it does work?
What if this is exactly what your soul has been trying to reach all along?
What if stepping into that “ocean” does more than just fulfill you — what if it sets others free too?
We’ve all been conditioned to “be the perfect daughter,” “the ideal son,” “the obedient child.”
We want to make them proud.
We want to follow the rules.
We want to meet their expectations.
But sometimes, trying to fit perfectly into someone else’s idea of who we should be… ends up silencing who we really are.
And yet — like Moana — something keeps pulling us back.
Back to that ocean.
Back to that idea.
Back to that path.
It’s not rebellion. It’s not disrespect.
It’s destiny.
And no matter how hard you try to walk away from it… your heart will always whisper,
“There’s more. There’s more for you.”
So, maybe it’s time to stop standing at the edge.
Maybe it’s time to stop overthinking and take the leap.
Not recklessly — but boldly.
Because fighting your fear doesn’t mean you’re not scared.
It means you’re scared… and you do it anyway.
Do it even if your voice shakes.
Do it even if they don’t understand.
Do it because that dream, that skill, that path — it’s calling you for a reason.
You owe it to yourself to try.
To go.
To find out just how far you can go.
And maybe, just maybe — the whole town will see you rise and realize you were never lost. You were always becoming.
Indeed, launch out into the deep ... into all that you are called to do ... it's deep out here, but there is plenty of room!
I totally agree with you... Thank you so much
