From Hospital Days to Harvest Days: How My Sister-in-Law Helped Keep Our Little Lettuce Business Growing

Hello everyone!

These past few days, my mind was mostly in the hospital.

I was taking care of my father and my brother, and at the same time, I was also thinking about my daughter who was left at home. There were so many things happening at once that I almost forgot about our little lettuce business.

But the lettuce did not wait for me.

The lettuce that my husband planted and that I had been helping take care of was already ready for harvest. It was fresh, green, and really needed to be harvested on time.
Normally, I am the one who accepts the orders.

When customers message us, I am the one replying, listing the orders, checking how many lettuce we need to harvest, and making sure everything is organized and clean. My sister-in-law usually helps me by making the salads, but I am the one handling the orders.
But this time, I was not there.

My sister-in-law was also busy with her households but she still helped us. She harvested the lettuce, cleaned it, and made salads for the customers.

And because she was also helping take care of my daughter while I was away, I decided to give her all the earnings from the salads.

For me, it was my little way of saying thank you.

I know that taking care of a child is not easy, especially when she is also busy with her own work. So whatever she earned from the salad orders, I gave to her. I wanted her to know how much I appreciated everything she was doing for me and for my daughter.
Today, I am so happy because we were finally discharged from the hospital. I thought, finally, I can go home and help again.

But then I found out that my sister-in-law already had bulk orders!

She was even working overtime making salads because there were so many orders coming in.
And honestly, she was already getting confused.
I could understand why.

Before, I was the one accepting the orders, while she was mainly helping with the preparation. Now, she had to accept the orders, remember everything, harvest the lettuce, clean it, and make the salads.

But seeing all those orders made me happy, too.

Even while I was away because of our family situation, our small lettuce business was still moving.
It reminded me that what my husband and I started little by little is slowly growing.

Today, I am thankful for two things: we are finally discharged, and our fresh lettuce has more customers waiting for it.

And most of all, I am thankful for my sister-in-law.

She did not only help with our small business.

She helped carry my responsibilities while I was away.

For that, I will always be grateful.
