Howdy to you all, my fellow Midnight Owls,
Here is the new prompt for the Midnight Owls:
Let's write a LOVE POEM for the Night
While I was going through the content in Midnight Community from the midnight owls on the last prompt, I saw some poems, and they were pretty nice, and I said to myself, it would be a good idea if we had a poem entry for the midnight owls, and after the poem, you talk about what it means.
What this means you write a love poem, it could be for a friend, a lover, or anybody, especially. Then you write about what the poem is talking about. You could tell us the story behind the poem, and if there is a use of special or indigenous language in the poem, then you can also tell us about it. Let see how romantic the midnight owls can get with their words. I am looking forward to the different entries.
Before I write my poem and give the analysis of the poem, here is a highlight of some posts from the last midnight prompts in the community from our midnight owls.
| No | Midnight Owl | Prompt Title |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | @kachy2022 | A very funny occurrence at work |
| 2 | @princessbusayo | When Cockroaches Turned My Room Into a Meeting Hall |
| 3 | @michael700 | I was looking so Rich to the Extent of Me Laughing at Myself |
| 4 | @treasuree | That Awkward Moment I'm Not Ready To Let Go Of |
| 5 | @chefquee | That funny incident |
Now here is my poem for this prompt.
ALL IT TOOK WAS YOU
Love came and passed me by,
while I kept quiet as others smiled.
It was good to others and not me.
Time passed as I felt it was me.
I was responsible for this empty space,
Could I have wasted the chance I once had?
And then came you.
You were patient, kind, and lovely.
There is a glow in your smile,
smartness in the way you talk,
Beauty is synonymous with your looks.
At first, there was a tuggle,
over time it was replaced with snuggles,
kisses, hugs mixed with midnight cuddles.
Love that was once a stranger
is now living in my humble manger.
You made it possible, and
for that I remain forever grateful.
So I say it from the deepest part of my heart,
All it took was you.
I just got inspired by the movie Purple Hearts, about two different individuals who had to fake their marriage just for the benefits they stood to gain from being married, to write this poem. What if we met somebody who changed all the negative aspects of love that we had once held in our hearts? It takes a trial to convince anyone, and the best we can hope for is to experience that trial. Stay open to the possibility of love finding you, for you can never tell where it could come from.

I found your poem captured beautifully the profound, often unspoken essence of love. Your lines “Love did not save me. It revealed me” are particularly striking, emphasising that love’s true gift is self-awareness rather than salvation. I loved how your ending wisely balanced reverence and caution, recognising love’s potency to shape lives.
Thank you.
An inspiration filled with love and moonlight is coming 🥰🎉

Hello!
The message in your poem is simple yet powerful. It's something we should all keep in mind, despite the sadness and contrasts that life can bring.

Hi, I found a lot to unpack in your poem. Certainly themes of labor, family, resilience, and intimacy. The imagery of coal and transformation was powerful. The use of faces and hands evoking generational cycles—resignation, longing, promises made and broken. Your poem depicts desire as a delicate force, intertwined with hardship. The sombre tone of the first part sets up the tension of the passionate second part nicely.

This an amazing piece, am inspired am going to try something, though not very good at that but this could be me starting a new journey.
Can other languages be allowed in this community, to also have a wide scope and maybe give room for non English speaking persons to participate, maybe English and another language
I liked how your poem moved from loneliness to love. Very relatable. The lines "midnight cuddles" and "living in my humble manger" I felt added warmth and intimacy to your work. What stands out to me though are the ending lines which successfully tie the poem up.
