Social media impacts the majority of people using it in any way up to 98%. This is just my opinion though, and I think it’s because it can give you almost all the information you are looking for. The Algorithms of social media is so efficient that it doesn’t just show you what you are looking for, it shows you the things you aren’t looking for, but might be interested in. And talk about showing you the things you are interested in, (which could be cool) social media apps like meta(algorithms) goes as far as invading your privacy and bringing out things from your search engine and conversations in order to keep you busy with their applications.

Majority of the times when this happens, you get so engrossed in whatever you are watching that you lose track of time and as a lot of us know the aftermath of such is keeping you coming for more by sometimes making you look forward to whatever is happening in that space. Web2 social media spaces do this over and over again and it has resulted in getting a lot of people addicted to the app. Some people have come to see social media as a place they can watch and envision the world from their little space. When this happens continually to us, our mode of thinking, emotions and everything about us becomes drwan to social media and we mentally beging to picture a home with it.
Now this is where it gets interesting, every social media platform (whether web 2 or web 3) form likemind communities that gives people a sense of belonging. And in psychology, home isn’t just a place or building, it’s a space where people feel comfortable in their skin. And since social media offers that majority of the time by creating niches, it’s very easy to keep people coming for more making them feel a need to be at home (Just like the popular saying; No place like home). In my opinion, social media will become a lot more addictive in the future, especially now that it’s easy to make money from it, buy goods and services and a lot of things that I can't even begin to mention in this post. The more additive it gets, the more people are drawn to it.
But if we who have experienced life before social media should be given an opinion on this matter, I would personally say Social media would be doing more harm than good to its users. I have a personal rule that makes me leave social media aside when I’m with my family. This is because I understand the importance of family time and bonding. But a lot of people, especially the Gen Z’s have seen social media itself as family making them live in an alternate reality. They end up becoming distant from the world and sometimes don’t know how to handle real life matters because they have been so busy living on social media.

I enjoy social media a lot, its my ticket and plane to journeying across the world. However, it has its bad sides too. And you spoke about drawing the line and knowing the time for family, That's very crucial too. Most people get so glued to social media to the extent of allowing it take all of them not leaving a space for their loved ones
Understanding when to take a break is key.
That is very correct sir. It gives us some sense of belonging allowing us to contribute what we have for the society.
