What My Family Did During Six Hours of Power Outage... XD

Today was quite unpredictable!

I woke up early at around 6:15 in the morning because I wanted to open a couple of classes before my parents and I had breakfast.

We usually have breakfast a little over eight in the morning after we feed our furbabies, but since they want to eat much later, we decided to make some changes.

I also wanted to improve my sleeping habits, so I woke up earlier than usual. This will allow me to sleep better and a bit earlier at night, at least before or a few minutes after midnight.

As you can see from my schedule above, I was able to handle classes from 7 AM (the lavender one is local time). However, when I barely started my 8-AM class, there was a power outage! I had to cancel it. XD

Power outages aren't new in my place; they happen from time to time and usually last for about an hour or so.

That's what we thought, so we had our breakfast as usual... However, an hour had passed, and the electricity wasn't restored. XD

My mom wasn't able to charge her phone the night before, so I lent her my power bank. However, we had to save some power in case the outage lasted longer, so we only charged it up to 50%.

We turned on my laptop and connected our Bluetooth speaker for some music from Spotify. My family believes in *"No music, no life". hahah Our day would cry without listening to music. XD

We planned things to do to pass the time.

I helped my mom prepare lunch. I mostly just sliced some of the ingredients after doing the dishes from our breakfast.

Arashi was chilling in this open area outside the living room. We have this small open space where we receive visitors. The tiled floor feels cooler, so Arashi enjoyed lying on it.

Papa decided to repaint the small furniture we have. Mama asked me to redesign it, so Papa is coating everything with black paint, so I can paint over it as soon as I finish the other projects I have at home. I'd probably paint this next weekend, or the weekend after next, since there's another project I want to do first. XD

After I finished with my tasks, I decided to pick up a book. I could read some manga or Webtoon on my phone, but my laptop died, so we played Spotify on my phone instead. haha

In addition, I'm planning to read at least a chapter or two every night before I sleep. I have a lot of books that I haven't read yet, and they've been sitting on the shelf for years. XD

I finished reading the whole book (The Little Prince) just before lunch.

We decided to eat in this area of the house because it's much cooler. The weather is sunny, but there's some wind, so it's still quite comfortable.

We also have some buko pandan left from yesterday. Mama (@arashi0416) is going to share her recipe for this dessert soon, so feel free to check it out.

I picked up another book to read after lunch, but I could only read until page 14 because the electricity was restored! I'll read a couple of chapters again tonight before going to bed.

And that was for the six hours of power outage. :) I'll prepare for work in a bit, so I'll end this here. Thanks a lot for reading, and see you around! (^^,)/

We have a battery that would give us about ~8-10 hours of backup for the whole house in the event of a power outage. It can charge from solar power during the day, so I think we'd be good for a few days before the battery was depleted and the solar power couldn't keep up with recharging it.

Power is such an important thing to have, but books, too are - they are such a good entertainment - and it is also one of the reasons I am starting to rebuild a physical library of books from what the library is getting rid of at $1/ book.

There is so much literature to rescue!

That's amazing... and it's for the whole house! It's indeed an advantage to have solar panels at home... :)

Hahaha... I have books I bought many years back, which are just sitting on the shelves. And when my bestie, who's a bookworm, migrated to the US, she left her favorite books to me... and I've only read a few of them. :)

That's awesome!!! Any interesting ones you got so far? :) I'd love to rescue some if I lived nearby. hahaha

Your day is still filled with a ton of things to do despite the power outage that is very inspiring of you. Wait is that a sari sari store behind your papa? Do you own it?
