Today's Work Struggle: Striving Inspite Losing Power and Connection

I love my work as an ESL teacher. I teach English to kids online while staying at the comfort of my home. I enjoy teaching as it is also my passion and I find teaching kids fun.

Many would say it is a comfortable job compared to others who need to spend a lot of time with self preparation and experience difficulties going to work each day. I do agree that most of the time I feel comfortable, but unbeknownst to many,this kind of work also sometimes has struggles and I I believe my struggles are also being experienced my many who works from their home.

For people who works from home, power and internet connection are essential. Thus, the absence of either one or both cause others to panic especially for those who does not have back ups. I have a power back up but I do not have a back up source for my internet connection. I live in an area where data reception is limited and most of the time it is unavailable. It is even better now that we have a fiber connection that enables me to have a decent connection for my classes. However, whenever I lose it, I would need to find an area with a better data connection and use hotspot instead. So usually when that happens, I would need to travel 15 minutes to our town and work in a cafe.

Today, the weather is really terrible. It was raining cats and dogs plus the wind is really strong. I was in the middle of the class when suddenly we lost power and my fiber connection. I am in the first hour of work and I have 4 hours left so I really need to get back to class as soon as possible. So I rushed to pack my gadgets and secured my bag with a plastic. It is really pouring and I just have to ride on a motorbike.

I endured the travel and just glad I reached my destination safely. I was in a rush setting up to get ready to go back to class. I always have my class in a cafe called Lavs Sea Breeze. Of course, I need to make an order. So I ordered a burger and siomai. I spent half of my day's salary because I also paid for my laptop's charging fee. Haha. I just really aim not to miss work. I really strive to be able to continue working inspite any difficult situations. Plus, I just enjoyed the scenery.

Inspite the struggle I am so happy that I was able to finish my class schedule for the day. It was already evening when I ended. I was really exhausted though and that is the problem I usually experience at work. Indeed, there is no easy job, but if you love what you are doing, you will strive no matter what. That would also make you dedicated towards work.
