Could This Be the Year I Showcase My Brand at a Trade Fair?

For some years I have been longing to participate in a fashion trade fair and this may be the year it will happen.

A fashion trade fair is an event where fashion designers, and fashion brands come together to showcase their products to buyers and fashion lovers (windowshoppers). These events is not just about the buying and selling but it is a platform to network as a fashion designer. It is an avenue to put your brand on the map and also get inspiration from other fashion business owners. It is an opportunity for fashion brands especially up and coming ones like mine to meet both local and international audience who are in attendance to discover fresh talents and creatives.

I have attended quite a number of trade fairs in the past both fashion and non-fashion. I have always wanted to be an exhibitor/vendor in one because I admire the exposure and sales it gives to small scale businesses. It is quite exciting to be in a space where people from all walks of life gather to connect, shop and discover new brands.

Just some few days ago, I came across a social media post about an upcoming fashion trade fair scheduled to take place in the last week of October. It is going to run for six days from 9am to 6pm every day. I have reached out to the organizers to make enquiries about what I need to do to become a participant especially the fees to secure a spot and other requirements. Hopefully I get a positive feedback soon.

If everything go as planned by that I mean if my business is qualified to participate and I'm able to afford the fees, I will begin to work immediately to create special collection to showcase at the event. The preparation won't be easy and cheap because I will have to consider the cost of production, logistics, setup among others. But I'm optimistic that it will be worth evey naira for the visibility and exposure the trade fair offers.

By the way, I'm pretty sure the organizers have put into consideration the weather. It is an outdoor event and with the way it rains cat and dogs in recent days I'm sure they have proper arrangements in place to manage disruptions maybe by providing strong canopies that can withstand heavy breeze and downpour.
