Have you ever seen those memes where they say "I was today years old when I learned this"? That was definitely the case for me this morning when I got an email from PayPal talking about my Venmo account. Well, not my Venmo account specifically, but the fact that any cryptocurrency held on Venmo was going to be migrating to Venmo Digital in the future.

Again, this really doesn't apply to me, because I never held any crypto on Venmo or PayPay, but as far as I know, I never realized that Venmo and PayPal were for all intents and purposes the same company. Perhaps I did and it just never clicked with me before, but who knows.

They don't really say why they are making this move, they just say "pending regulatory approval". If you do hold crypto on this platform you don't need to take any actions, it will be moved automatically, but I still find it interesting. As we start to see the lines blurred between crypto and traditional currency, it's surprising that they would be making moves to separate the two. I'm sure there is a reason, and I am sure money is involved....

The markets have been confounding lately. We have seen a lot of positive news for crypto, which I think would normally have a positive impact on the price. For example, the decision by the SEC to classify some of the major crypto as commodities is kind of huge. Unfortunately, the overall global unrest seems to be hampering what could have been a mini bull run. Of course, what do I know.

Additionally, the traditional markets are taking a beating as well. It's not that they are tanking or anything, but we have gotten so used to seeing high after high, that when we now see some red, it hits just a bit harder. I've said this before, but it's actually pretty rare that I check my traditional investments anymore. They are pretty boring to be honest, and when it comes to traditional investments, boring is good. I'm happy to just let them churn away in the background. Perhaps weather one more massive drop, and then when they recover start moving them into something more stable.

Perhaps maybe I just let them ride. Life needs a little excitement right?

OmenX

You might remember a while ago I started playing around with GoMining. In the process of that, @hanshotfirst and I connected with a group that is running a project called OmenX. It's basically a gaming platform that is crypto based. It is still really early alpha right now, so if it seems like something you might enjoy, this could be your chace to use my referral link and get in early. I'm still learning a lot about OmenX myself, but one of the cool things is they are putting the games before the token whereas a lot of projects do the opposite, and we have seen time and again how that ends up turning out.

Of course, you should do your own research and only do what you feel comfortable with. No pressure from me, I get how tough times are right now. Especially with the 2025 crypto season not going quite the way we had expected or hoped.

Precious Metals

I just saw a news story this morning about a huge deposit of precious metals being discovered down in Argentina or something like that. Sadly, it hasn't done much for the price of metals yet with silver currently down near the $70 per oz mark. I am honestly not too worried about it. I know there are a lot of people who take stacking silver and gold very seriously, but it's always been kind of a fun side thing for me. Let's call it a side piece. Maybe even a side side piece. So my traditional investments are like my wife (except the part I mentioned above about them being boring), crypto is my ho I keep on the side, and then silver is the occasional hook up.

I wasn't complaining when silver was above $100 per ounce, but I am still at the point where I want to accumulate versus sell. That means the lower the price right now, the better for me. Silver was supposed to be kind of like a stable hedge against all the market craziness anyway, so can I really complain if it is coming back down to Earth a bit?

HIVE

As for HIVE, what can I say. We are in one of those phases where things feel pretty dead. I've been through them before here, but this one feels just a little different. I think because the whole market feels different now. We had some drama with Leo Strategy this week and honestly, I kind of feel like that's about the last thing we need right now. Even die hard supporters are pretty upset, and I can't say I blame them. Meanwhile, we have the astute few who saw this coming right from the beginning.

Which leads me to the Pub. We have a pretty good mix of people there who are brutally honest about a lot of things. They have keen insight and strong opinions. If you haven't taken the time to check out the Discord, you should give it a shot. Also, don't forget about The Pub HIVE community page where you can post your content as long as it follows the guidelines.

I've started to temper my expectations for HIVE, but that doesn't mean I plan on going anywhere, at least not anytime soon. I really love doing what I do here, and I don't see that changing.
