I have gathered some ingredients for today's food photography. Cayenne pepper, carrot (green, red, and yellow), spring onions, ginger, chicken, green beans, garlic, tomatoes, etc. In Nigeria, these ingredients are mostly used to make one dish: fried rice.
For a long time, I have been looking for a way to eat canyeen pepper because of its antioxidants, which are especially beneficial for lowering blood pressure and helping the heart function better. The ingredients are freshly purchased. The tomatoes have been chilling in the refrigerator, and the chicken was also recently purchased.
Fried rice is one of the most nutritious foods ever created; it is perfectly balanced with fiber, protein, vitamins, and carbohydrates. However, it is expensive to prepare. Because of this, it is only eaten or cooked on occasion. Most of these ingredients are quite expensive, and the average Nigerian will not cook them on a daily basis, even if their diet is balanced.
Regular Nigerians will prepare the regular jollof rice or tomato stew rice, because it is cheaper and faster to prepare.
It is the first time these ingredients have been assembled and documented in photographic format. I prefer to cook light because deep cooking is stressful unless I have someone to help me, which I do this time.
One of the goals I have set for myself is to eat healthy, at least to the extent and cost that I can afford. Following a dietician's advice, especially if you are diabetic or have heart or kidney disease, is nearly impossible; in fact, most people don't. Many Nigerians eat poorly, sometimes unintentionally.
Unintentionally, because they are unaware that they should eat healthily in order to remain healthy. An average Nigerian who does not have any health problems will occasionally be careless about what they eat because they believe they are healthy. However, good health is overrated if a person does not make intentional efforts to keep their body healthy. I used to have a friend who ate sugar at the slightest provocation.
He is aware that sugar is extremely harmful, but he consumes it in excess because he believes he is healthy and that it will have no negative consequences. Some people are purposefully poor eaters, which means they are aware that they are eating unhealthy foods, but they do so because that is all they can afford.
Life is difficult, and we sometimes eat or wear items that we can only afford. For example, bread is not entirely healthy, but it is inexpensive, so it has become a staple and mainstay of most Nigerians' diets. It is not exactly cheap, but it is on the upper end of affordable.
Today, I offer you my culinary experience through the lens of my iPhone 12. The lighting was not great, so I used a light to improve it. The room was not well lit, but I thought I did a good job arranging things and getting some interesting shots from different angles. Plus, Jesus has risen. Death and Sin could not contain him. Seek him out today in prayer and supplication, so that where he is, you may also be.

I ran here for the culinary experience myself. This post can’t be truer, how many times does one get to buy veggies to cook. The only food I take the pain to prepare healthily is noodles because I can’t stomach the plain one.
Eating healthy is indeed underrated. Until there’s need for it, most of us don’t actually take note to eat healthy. Thanks for the reminder. Beautiful pictures!
Well yeah. Eating healthy is not emphasized enough. It's expensive, stressful and it takes time. We mostly go with the things we're familiar with and it's most in our nature most of the time, but eating healthy is still good, even though the body takes a lot. Thank you. It's been a while I did this.
It's beautiful! I couldn't stop myself from clicking the post open to see these beauties you created with your lens.
Eating healthy for a healthy person is often overrated and it's just the way you say it, we assume since we are healthy, we are untouchable. Sometimes, it's not our fault, we basically just eat what we can afford. This means we eat to fill our bellies and stop hunger rather than for nutrients.
Nice shots 😍😍
Yeah, food photography is really good, and every now and then, I just wake up from my slumber, buy some of these things and shoot. Thank you.
It is and that's why most Nigerian actors don't know their health is declining with all the alcohol and all that. Sometimes healthy people are fallible because of ignorance and lack of intentionality unlike a person who is in no wise healthy.
Thank you. It was a colorful shooting experience.
Hah! You can't blame actors for the alcohol part. Sometimes, these people reach the peak of their career and see a lot of things that send them straight to depression or anxiety and they turn to alcohol for support. I am not judging, it's just that there are experiences we will have as we keep moving forward that might make us start depending on alcohol to numb our pains.

Omo, the day I decide to go deep into cooking, I will not get myself right until the next day. It is why I go for light cooking and I am done. I love to eat a good and healthy meal and would not mind spending lots of money on it, it doesn´t happen every time though.
You are right that some people do eat poorly sometimes and one of the reasons which is unintentional is because they cannot afford to get the right and healthy meal and would go for whatever they can afford, while others just eat even when they know it is dangerous to their health.
In Nigeria, there is a slang now - as long as you don see something chop, no problem. Eat whatever you see, make belle full. Lol
I love your photography skills and smiled at the last sentence.... because Jesus has risen..... Lol
I used to enjoy cooking, especially when I use to have the strength to do so, but this was a very long time ago. Nowadays if I don't get anyone helping me, I can hardly cook as I used to do, so most times I also cook light, because cooking deep is tedious. People who think cooking is easy have never really cooked. It's one of the hardest things. I hope one day I can be energized and find the jive to cook like I used to.
Thank you, it's been a long time I did the kind of photography content I use to like. Yes, He's truly risen.
Yes, I believe the strength will come someday. All is well.
Making me hungry bro. What would be some popular Nigerian dishes I should try? I am going to see if there is a Nigerian restaurant in my town.
Jollof rice is one Nigerian dish, you can try fried rice too, although it's not only native to Nigeria. You can request for some soup like Egusi, white soup or even Ewedu soup, they're all eaten with some solid staple, made with mainly cassava and all that. They're all great and good for gut health.
Healthy diet can keep one away from the doctor for a long time. Unfortunately some people intentionally consume unhealthy food even with the knowledge of the health implications
Those shots are great
Those veggies cost really high now and not something to prepare always, however we will strive to always eat healthy to our capacity inorder to improve our well being
Happy Easter big joy
Celebrate with Joy 😊
Yeah, healthy feeding is important. A lot of people are quite ignorant of it. When I was younger, I didn't really know much until I started seeing stuffs like high blood sugar and painful chests. It's why I think people should eat healthy from when they're young, it'll prevent a lot of things like diabetes and all that.
Happy Easter to you too, thank you
Wawu. Mr. Cook or should I say, Mr. Cooker. Hehe, this is looking yummy already, and like you've stated, eating healthy is necessary.
Thank you, the pictures are just well edited it's better when it's well edited. Thank you so much.
That's noice!😁😁. Happy Easter ooo. I am waiting for that shopping

No. This man knows premium delight!
Not many can prepare fried rice well, and I can't prepare it either, so I usually don't eat it much. I'll just carry the chicken on top and go my way.
Nice to see you're eating healthy, man. Happy Easter Sunday!
Not a lot of people can prepare it too. I can mostly take good pictures of the ingredients, the cooking itself can still be a disaster. Generally it's asthetical to just take pictures, but I don't think I can do the real deal the way some people can. Thank you.
You did so cool photos, all ingredients looks so fresh, well unfortunately also here we are under inflation and we often choose the affordable food instead of the healthier but expansive ones 🥲
I guess it's everywhere in many places in the world. People choose the food they can actually afford. Thanks for the comment
Nice veg shots!
Who said pictures can't be full of nutrients.. here it is.. healthy diet means healthy life.. for blood pressure, and other disease it looks like a perfect diet.
It's the same in our case.
Thank you, food photography is nourishing. Right about diet, good dieting saves a lot of illness for everyone irrespective of any circumstance.
I thought it was only peculiar to us here.
Thank you so much for this piece , eating healthy cannot be overly emphasized as it keeps the body in check. Most of us don't know this until bwe start growing older and seeing the disadvantage of some of the things we take into our body
Yeah, getting older is where most of these things begins to suffice. There's only so much the body can actually take
Looking at these photos, I see that the quality of iPhone photos is always so beautiful compared to the rest.
Yeah, the quality is unbeatable in every case
When I first saw the pictures of all of these ingredients, I had thought you were going to teach lazy men like me how to prepare some nice delicious fried rice 😂😂 and I was going to invite you to Creative Sunday.
By the way, I am part of the regular Nigerians you speak of 😂.
The shots are really nice. I also want to change my phone and I’ve been thinking of getting an IPhone12. These pictures now is really wanting me to get one.
The tomatoes look very big and that’s how I usually love it. I love to eat healthily. Happy Easter

It's hard when the price of things isn't so great and I agree that cooking tends to take more time than I would like. I find myself just going for an unhealthier option a lot but then again, I haven't had the health issues you have.

What an experience! The pictures are lovely. My quack itel phone can't give me this good. You really had a fabulous Christmas. Hope your health is stabilized
Eating healthy with fresh ingredients is really important. I do the same, but usually try to keep things simple since I'm only cooking for myself, I'm sure you do the same. How was your Sunday? I spent about half the day lying down since my heart rate was up again. This sucks.....
How do you mean that fried rice is the most nutritious created food ever;😳 have you tasted my traditional delicacies before? What about ekpangkukwo? 🥰
