Choosing Home

Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome šŸ¤—

For many people in my country, the idea of relocating permanently to a new country would be a dream come true, and honestly, I wouldn’t blame them for feeling that way. The reality of life here is really tough and challenging. The rate of unemployment is really alarming; we have countless numbers of youths roaming the streets, holding files filled with CVs and desperately searching for jobs that they would really not get. Insecurity has become the order of the day; people are leaving in fear and uncertain about their safety. Our roads are poorly maintained; they are filled with potholes and mostly impassable, while the lack of electricity has really become a frustrating and annoying norm for many households, with families going weeks, sometimes months, without a power supply. These are just a few of the issues we face, and under these circumstances, it’s understandable why so many people dream of a better life elsewhere.

Everyone is looking for a good place they and their children can live and grow up safely, a place that is filled with abundant opportunities, and where they can have access to basic amenities like electricity and security. So, at any given opportunity, many people are eager to leave for a new country.

But if I were given a huge sum of money with two options to relocate permanently to a new country or stay in my country, which would i choose?

I would choose to stay. Not because I am content or happy with the way things are—far from it—but because this is the place I know and call home. I would love to visit different countries and stay for some time but not permanently.

Nigeria is a fertile land; it has rich potential, and there are a lot of opportunities that are yet to be tapped. Despite the different challenges we face daily, I strongly believe that my country has a brighter future. With such money I would use it to invest in my country, starting from my state. I would create jobs, opportunities, and a sustainable path forward for our people. While we have a lot of people who have chosen to take their wealth abroad, using their resources to develop foreign nations and create jobs elsewhere, I would rather take a different approach to do something meaningful here at home.

The truth is, Nigeria is filled with talented, creative, and determined people, but it lacks systems and structures that allow these qualities to thrive. I feel with the right investments, we can unlock the potential of our people and transform their lives to look like those or better than those abroad.

There are a lot of industries to channel my focus and money into that would impact and change our nation, like agriculture, technology, and manufacturing.

Apart from creating business ventures, I would also invest in our education and vocational training. Personally I know a lot of people that are eager to work but simply lack the skills or opportunities to do so. I would provide training programs, mentorship, and scholarships, where we can equip our youth with the tools they need to succeed and contribute meaningfully to the economy.

There are a lot I can do with this huge sum of money, and my core decision for doing this is to see my country thrive. While taking money abroad might seem like the easier path, it really doesn’t solve the fundamental issues we face here. What I would really love to do is to pour my resources, time and energy into building my home country and creating a legacy and a better place for the future generations.

There are free sites you can get pictures from like unsplash, pixabay, pixels and you can also use AI pictures but make sure you post where you got the picture from and they are communities that don't approve of AI pictures. So before making a post in any community make sure you go through their rules

I took pictures from Pinterest and other apps and wrote content about them, but I got a response that you stole the pictures. Which is why many people downvoted me.

You’re not even thinking of just you alone but generations too? Wow. That’s so kind of you. To be honest, I didn’t even think of how I would be able to help generations by staying, like you thought.
