I remember the 5th of December 2023 when I got the job I'm doing now. One of the things I was asked during my interview was where I wanted to be next year. I wasted no time thinking about it, I said I was going to have increased a lot of my skill sets starting with my marketing skills, and then my web development skills. Both of these skills were my goal for the year, and I'm happy with the things I've been able to achieve with them which by the way wasn't an easy fit to come by. There were a lot of things I didn't understand, and a lot of things I found so difficult to even comprehend especially because I had to learn under extreme pressure which was never part of the plan. But I'm happy I was able to pull it through.

My growth process started when we noticed our files had been compromised at the office. It was a lot to take in because nobody knew exactly what to do. I started out as a Digital marketing Expert, but because I stated in my resume that I had a bit of web development experience, my boss asked me if I could do something about it. I thought about it for a month, analyzed the situation and told him I could provide a temporary fix that would temporarily log out the hackers out of our server, but the solution won't keep them out for long because they would be able to find another way in. At that point I didn't know the gravity of the situation so I didn't want to say something I wasn't sure of.
I immediately contacted my friends who were already experts in the field on how to go about the whole process because it was my first time, and I succeeded in logging the hackers out. I proceeded to start taking some cyber security courses of which I understood absolutely nothing until I contacted some friends who made the process a bit easier. And just as I thought, the hackers found their way back into our server, I was able to trace the origin of the attack, told my company about it, and that was how I took on the role of ICT personnel. From there I've had to build another website from scratch, and also migrate all the companies web information from the corrupted servers it was in to a new one. All these I never imagined doing a year ago.

Now entering into my major field of Digital marketing, when I saw the product I was going to be marketing, it was nothing like I've ever come across in over seven years as a digital marketer. This is because the audience for such products are not really social media inclined so I needed to figure out channels of reaching them online. It was a big obstacle for me for nearly 3 months, but I was able to not just market our products but also made mind blowing sales that ran the company out of stock. My company happened to be the sole distributor of that product in West Africa, but it was a new product with big competitors, but being able to finally figure out a way to sell it meant I've become better than I was a year ago.

The digital marketing challenge is one I can relate to. Imagine having to introduce a new thing to a community that's resistant to change. ๐๐๐
