Little Chefs In The Making, My First Cooking Adventures.

(edited)

You know this thing with little girls while growing up that they would by all means want to cook just like their mother is cooking in the kitchen which makes them to derive a means to do it by creating their own world where they tend to cook every and anything, Yess cooking with konkon derived from the usage of tin tomatoes and cooking with three mighty mighty stones that might seem little to you and our fires are ever real with the use of broom sticks and leaves, such kind of fire that we never stop blowing till the food gets done to our taste. I was privileged to have that experience and am going to be sharing what my first experience looked it and if I stopped it or not.

This would be my second post in this community and I would be participating on "First Times" Are we ready 💃👩‍🍳🍽️, so let's go. I can't trace back in history who started this but I can tell you for sure that we were never taught, we just find ourselves doing it like we learnt it from birth, yess I know that we have sat and watched in the kitchen how meals are been prepared but who told how to invent our own kitchen and tools to use I have no idea. In light to that, my first experience was when I got back from school one day and as usual after washing my school uniform and doing my assignment I went out to play with my friends, we decided that we would do something different that day and all we could come up with was to cook food.

We had to share the responsibility around ourselves which were three persons, and because we wanted to have real foods we decided to bring food items from our various houses, the first girl brought red oil and onions from her house while the second girl brought rice, beans and maggi from her house and I was left to bring the supposed pot, firewood, water, stones, salt and pepper, we had the best experience ever sneaking out of the house with those food items without anybody notice, coming out we started the cooking doing different concoctions and the outcome was very funny, we hadn't cut the ingredients well so it stood out in the food, the taste was horrible and both the rice and beans were never done but we were so happy that it worked out.

We even served ourselves in leafs we called plate and we ate them playfully, just as we were eating Rosemary's mother (the girl who had brought red oil for us) voice was heard from a far distant shouting her name, she had brought the whole rubber of oil out for us to use and she forgot to take it back but what did we know, very naive of us to have done things with traces so before the mother could reach where we were we had scatter everything and everyone were running for safety, so that was how my memorable day ended. Well our cooking never ended because for me I still cooked in our compound when ever I was left alone and bored and we still cooked together when ever we were playing, that was where I also learnt my skills in cooking.

It's always a lovely experience having to remember all these memories and it feels like yesterday. A big thank you to my readers, my commenters and voters, I really appreciate you all.

I remember those childhood days of trying to do various things we see adults do with improvise items, that's include cooking. Such a lovely memory to look back on.
