While growing up, I was among the lucky ones who got to hear fantastic folklore tales; my elder brother was so good at it that I would plead with him most nights to tell me a story.
He told me stories about the animals, especially the tortoise; he shared the story of Ajantala, the boy who started talking the day he was born, he shared the story of Irebe, the disobedient girl, and many more and I never get tired of listening to him.
How time flies, it has been so long, and I don't remember the full details of some of the stories again, but I can still tell them in my own way.
So I will be sharing the story of Ajantala.
In a small village, a woman gave birth to a child, but he was no ordinary child, as he started talking the day he was born.
He started to insult his father the day he was born. Why are you so ugly? You are even bald, plz give me food, I am hungry o. These were Ajantala's words on the day he was born. His parents and other villagers were shocked. How can a newborn baby talk? But that was nothing compared to what Ajantala would do to them.
At his naming ceremony, he insisted they name him Ajantala, and no one should dare touch the food they cook. Some villagers who were pissed that a little baby was talking to them rudely lashed back at him, and that was the beginning of trouble, cos Ajantala flogged everyone, including his parents that they all ran away.
Days turned to weeks, Ajantala became a terror in the village, until one day that the mother decided to do something about him, so she took him far away from the village and told him to wait for her, that she wanted to get something and that was how she returned home without Ajantala, He waited and waited but his mother didn't come back, that was when he dawned on him he had been abandoned.
Back then, Animals used to live together, both the domestic and wild animals... While in the bush, Elephant, tiger, dog, antelope, fox, and leopard saw him, and while some think they should eat him, others think they should help him, and he can, in turn, serve them, and in the end, the latter won.
The animals take turns in gathering food for themselves, and with Ajantala in their midst. They decided that when it is the turn of any of them, Ajantala will go with the animal...The first day was the turn of Antelope, when they got to the farm, Antelope started to harvest the yam and when he was done, he told Ajantala to come and carry it so they can head home but that pissed off Ajantala and he beat the Antelope black and blue till he fainted, when Antelope woke up, Ajantala told him to carry the load and he must not tell anyone what happened on the farm or else he would kill him.
Other animals ask the Antelope what caused the bruises on his body, but he lied that it was hornet that sting him, the same thing happened to all the other animals too until they had a meeting and decided to move away from their house leaving Ajantala behind but unknown to them, Ajantala heard all they said during the meeting and he already wrapped himself in a leaf in their bag so when they leave the next morning, unknowingly to them, Ajantala was in their bag.
The Antelope decided to steal food on the way, he lied to the others that he wanted to poo, that they should keep going, when they were gone, he opened the leaf Ajantala wrapped himself, and he jumped out and flogged him till the Antelope almost lost his breathe, then he told him to wrap him back and put him in the bag and give him to another animal.
Just like the Antelope, the others also wanted to steal food and they met with the same fate, then they all left the bag while running away from Ajantala, they met under a tree unknown to them that Ajantala was up in the tree, while they were discussing what next to do, He jumped down and all the animals fled again, some into the forest, some into villages and this is why the tiger and elephant can be found in the wild, while the dog who ran in the direction of humans became a domesticated animal.

The humans abandoned him, the animals also abandoned him, he was too lazy to farm or hunt. He died of hunger.

Oh yes, you did try! I've never heard of this one before and I must say, it's really interesting. Can't stop laughing. Even the tiger couldn't teach Ajantala a lesson?😂
lol, Ajantala is not an ordinary child, he is a demon, no animal or human could defeat him.
Very much so lol! Ajantala is a legendary flogger of both humans and animals. I feel sorry for the antelope the most 😂😂
😅
Wow, what an interesting and funny story. Ajantala was very rude, I was even thinking the lion will finally eat him up but thank you for sharing such a wonderful story 😁
