There are so many sounds in this world we live in. Some which we are attracted to and are soothing to the ears, like music for instance and others which irritate us. This week, we want you to tell us what sound irritates you most in your whole life.
When I saw this topic, there was only one sound that came to my mind. The screeching sound, the high pitched sound you hear when you're scraping metal against metal, is not limited to just metal against metal, but metal is almost always involved. Maybe something like dragging a metal spoon against a brick wall. The goosebumps, the weird crawling in the skin, covering your ears and hoping for the irking sound to stop. I am already feeling irked just thinking about these sounds, which just goes to show how much I hate them. I dislike them so much and anytime I am unlucky enough to hear them I do my best to stop the sound or leave the venue as soon as possible. Luckily for me, I don't get to hear them so much these days.
When I was little however I heard the sound fairly frequently. Some of my friends knew about it and then they'd use the sound to annoy me. it was funny at times, but also annoying at times as well. Then, there was this school bag that had this cool shiny design, but then when you use your hand to scratch it, it made a similar sound (a bit lower), but somewhat similar to the pot sound and it also made my skin crawl. For some reason, other kids enjoyed playing with it much to my dissatisfaction.
Up until today, a couple of hours ago in fact, I didn't even know the feeling I get when I hear these sounds had a name, I'd just called it the hatred of weird screeching sounds. But after reading @jhymi's post I realized it is called Misophonia.
Apparently, it is a condition whereby specific sounds trigger emotional responses like anger, anxiety, disgust, or distress. I didn't bother too much with this though, because in this day and age, any little thing is diagnosed as a condition. As long as it is not affecting my way of life and I can live comfortably then it's not something I need to think about. But it was interesting to see that it was a somewhat common thing, especially to this exact sound. So at least I don't have to feel weird about it (not that it changes too much though).
And there you have it, the sound I hate the most.

I guess it's something a lot of us share. It's quite an irritating sound. And I see you've copied me in two things in this post. No issues.๐
๐ ๐ I didn't copy you oo ๐
I understand how people hate that sound I just donโt get the goosebumps part
Mine doesnโt give me goosebumps it gives me a tingling effect on my teeth, I know itโs weird
Hehe, a tingling feeling on the teeth, it's weird, but aren't we all?
I hate the sound of a busy road so I can relate to how you feel with the metal sounds. Thanks for sharing.
Hehe, the sound of a busy road is an interesting one.
I don't usually have problems with metal scratching against metal or other hard objects, but you see that sound produced when fingers scratch against something like paper, pot or something similar? That one is very irritating to me
Ah God, I also dislike this one, especially that pot own. Very irritating.
That sounds makes me feel like venom bro, we used to have a neighbor that sells beans pudding using tin bro everyday is a nightmare as they keep scratching those tins against the wall to get it open.
๐ ๐, great description, just like Venom. That's how I feel.
Ahh, sorry about that bro, you guys were trying. Hopefully you don't hear that sound so often again.
I share a dislike for that sound. It
makes me disorganized
Same thing Bro.
I must confess, i didn't read your post till the end, your description of mental sound hitting another...omg!
I really don't want to began the imagination again and stop writing just like i did while reading๐ฉ๐ฉ
It's one of the most craziest sounds that irritates me the most๐ฉ๐ญ
