All my life, Iāve never been a fan of being around people or, better still, sharing my unadulterated thoughts with people. I remember one particular time when I shared what I really thought about a project with a colleague, and he looked at me for seconds and later asked, āHow do you think?ā And I know what a compliment sounds like. That wasnāt one. He later said I was very complicated.
A few days later, we had to use that āthoughtā of mine to finish up the project. For this reason in particular, Iāve never liked working in teams, whether of 2 or 100. Some way, somehow, my thoughts or contributions always get undermined until the last minute, when they realize I was right.
This even goes beyond my colleagues. Iāve realized that one of the reasons why I donāt really have friends is because I mostly have daring thoughts. Thoughts that would make you take huge risks and bold actions: something most people never want to do.
But something happened yesterday. If youāve been following me for a while, youāll realize that for the past three weeks, Iāve been working with a group of skilled professionals. I even wrote about one who approached me to tell me how inspired he was with the way I work.
Yesterday, we had to work on a project in teams of two, and coincidentally, the same person I spoke about was my teammate. I always doubted people whenever they said they enjoyed working in teams, but yesterday was an eye-opener. He began by asking me what I had in mind for the project. Right there, I was shocked because I barely have people asking me for my contributions.
I told him how I thought we should go by the project and what I knew was going to work out. He agreed in minutes and asked me what I needed him to do. You should have seen my face after hearing that. I kept asking him if he understood what I said. I kept asking if anything sounded complicated in his ears. I asked so many things, and I think at a point he was becoming confused, so I stopped.
He followed my lead, and in about 4 hours we were done. This was something that was supposed to take us 7 hours to complete. When we finished, we submitted it and then started brainstorming for the next project.
I started working in teams in 2021, and I never liked it. You know how sometimes things happen for so long and you eventually start believing that you are the problem? Thatās how it was for me at a point. I came to believe that maybe I was never going to thrive in a team, so I planned on always being quiet whenever it came to teamwork. But for the first time in a long time, I truly believe that teamwork actually is a good thing, but of course with the right people or in my case, person. Smiles so wide

Hmnnnn... Having mindset that you can do all this along is really a bad thought, working with team make things easier and even faster because togetherness every body archieve more. But I'm glad you are able to see that yourself now that you've really been missing alot by not agreeing in working with people then. I hope you've learnt from this and you can also encourage and convince people that have the same mindset like yours back then.
Yes, Iāve learnt a lot.
Good to hear that
Well, I wouldn't totally blame you, after all we are all humans, nobody gets happy when their big great idea gets undermined, you will realize that people mostly talk down your idea because they themselves haven't got a clue' so they get jealous or feel threatened, like they are second class or something.
I am glad you get to see the power and potential of team work even after everything, bravošŖ
Oh yeah
Iām also glad
I don't blame you at all, instead, I blame those who undermined your ideas. Working with the wrong people can make us believe weāre the main problem, when in reality, itās those people who never valued our thoughts or ideas. Iām honestly glad you found someone who truly values your ideas. Now I understand why you hate teamwork. Because to me, teamwork means everyone involved should bring their ideas so that the work can succeed, not condemning someoneās idea that could actually help the whole team move forward.
I appreciate how you understand my pov. It means a lot to me.
You never know something feels till you experience it...
Congratulations to you,you can now be part of teams.
Thank you.
That guy is a team player because he understands how team work plays out. Others will seize the work and even if they manage to get any contributions from you, they are passing it off as theirs and giving you little credit. Indeed with the right people we can achieve anything we set out for.
At least your contributions was proven to be not daring. But what were you trying to hear by asking and asking, if you didn't sound complicated šš¤£
That part got me laughing, honestly, we are happy to know our contributions are rated.
Oh yeah itās always a delight to hear our contributions are taken.
