Don’t Judge Me, I Was Just A kid

A lot of people don’t even know I’m a twin and that’s because I barely share that part of my life. I mean I didn’t even know I was a twin until primary 6. My mom had been saying for a long time that I was a photocopy of my cousin who was in Europe. I sincerely thought she was joking and I used to also say maybe I was the one supposed to be in Europe and vice versa so she should return me back to my family.

There was this particular time that one of my aunties was about to get married so we all traveled to her house. My heart skipped a beat the moment I saw Tyra. My mom wasn’t joking. Tyra looked exactly like me. The difference was noticed only when she talked. Her accent was different and she could also speak German. We got to know each other very well by the second day.

She found out she was going to stay in Ghana for three months and immediately asked to go to school with me. That was when our crazy plans begun. I thought she would be in the same class with me but she was sent to a lower class. It also happened that she was made to sit beside my crush.

We planned to exchange classes for a day so I could sit beside my crush. The week before that, we did extensive prepping anytime we went home. I taught her how to speak like me, showed her the people to talk to, a lot of Abenad stuff and she did same with me. The only problem was her accent but we fixed that by making her talk faster.

Guess what? Our plan was successful. I spent a full day beside my crush and nobody in my class even realized I was gone, except my best friend and other close friends. Eventually, she started having a crush on our neighbor so we had to plan for part 2 of what we did in school.

This time, I was to take her place in Germany while she stayed back in Ghana( silly children games). At the airport, Tyra and I exchanged clothes and made sure to pull our hoodies over our heads. Right after pulling my hoodie down to check in, my aunty screamed my name and that’s when I knew I was in hot soup.

She realized the person beside my mom all that while was Tyra and not me. It was a big deal at the airport but it later got resolved. At that time, I didn’t understand why my parents were so angry but after I grew up, I realized it was not just crazy but criminal and I could have been arrested.

It’s been over 10 years since she left and my parents deliberately never made me speak to her again. I’m not sure how she looks now but I know if we ever cross paths again, we might try worse things.

Wow!! Abenad primary 6 and you were already thinking of a man?😂😂😂ohhh children of this generation.

You guys were really twins? Biologically or she is your doppelganger?

Did you try looking for her on every social media platform? Having her in your life would have been so great.
