Something I don’t play with is celebrations. I believe that there’s a reason why everything happens once a year. Like there’s a reason why your birthday happens once a year. And this makes it special. There’s also a reason why Easter, Christmas, and all the holiday and festive seasons happen once a year. If not, they wouldn’t be so special.
So I couldn’t celebrate Christmas because two days before Christmas, I woke up with a terrible sore throat. It was actually so bad that I couldn’t talk. At one point, I thought my voice box was probably destroyed. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating, but it should tell you how serious it is.
I had two choices: to either go to the hospital or resort to natural home remedies. Actually, the second option was the first one, and the first one was going to happen if the home remedies just decided not to work.
So I got to the market and bought ginger. Wait, I can’t continue without talking about how expensive ginger has become. Guys! I can remember very well how cheap ginger was. Like it wasn’t something you even needed much money to even get. Just a little and you’d have enough, but now? You can’t get ginger for less than 10 cedis. Any Ghanaian would understand that this is wild.
Okay, I’m done with the ginger rant so let me continue. I came home and prepared my ginger tea. I also added a bit of cinnamon sticks and that was my breakfast for three days. On the third day, my throat felt so much better. I mean, of course, we certainly can’t compare natural medicine to processed ones. I know taking a pill or syrup would have probably taken about a week or two.

So….. since I spent my Christmas trying to feel better, I felt dull during the new year too. I want to blame it on the fact that I had no Christmas spirit in me. I didn’t celebrate anything and that was why. But if you remember, in the beginning of the post, I said that I don’t joke with celebrations so I’m now about to celebrate my own Christmas season.
I know it’s too late and everyone is busy with their lives, but not me. I’m going to put everything aside and do everything I wanted to do during the festive season. After all, it comes just once a year. The only downside is that I probably wouldn’t have access to certain programs because they are all done. Well, I’ll find a way to fix that and still celebrate because why not!

Have a sore throat can be very bad at times but I’m glad you’re much better now.
Happy new year!
Thank you and many happy returns.
