A Hibiscus Flower and a Colorful Butterfly (Watercolor Art)

I didn't have any classes this afternoon, so I decided to paint something. It's been a while since I did one.

I thought of various things to paint, and I originally wanted to paint some Pokémon. I've been playing Pokémon Go recently because of my bestie, and they've added all the generations of pocket monsters. I am only familiar with the first generation, but there are a bunch of cute new ones.

Anyway, I'll try making Pokémon fan art through digital drawing in the coming days. I think they'll be good subjects for practice. :D So, I decided to create something colorful just like most of the Pokémon characters, and this is what I came up with.

It's a hibiscus and a colorful butterfly!

Let me show you the art process...

First, I prepared what I needed to do the artwork. This time, I used my solid watercolor and a 10 x 10 cm watercolor paper.

First, I did the background. It's just a simple combination of blue, lavender, and white. I made it so that it looks like the sky.

Then, once the background had dried, using a pencil, I sketched the subjects. Afterwards, I started coloring. :)

I started coloring the base colors, green for the leaves and stalks, yellow and red for the flower, and a darker red for the butterfly.

Then, I added some details to the leaves and the flower. It's a hibiscus, and I wanted it to be the type with multiple colors.

As for the butterfly, I thought of one anime character, so I decided to use these colors, but I made some changes later on to make it more like her. Well, at least her haori. hahaha

I added more details to the drawing using a detailer brush, and finally, I added my signature. TO the anime fans out there, which character does this butterfly remind you of? Actually, there are two of them from the same anime... one has a similar hair color, while the other... her haori. ^^

Lastly, I removed the masking tape around it to create a frame and took photos from various angles. And that's it for my painting today. It was fun making this!
