Beneficial animals for the garden, Ant-eater

I have talked and will continue to do so in a section of the blog about animals that are harmful to the garden, but there are also many animals that are beneficial to the garden. These are the predators that help us control pests in the most efficient and clean way possible. Our job will be to attract them and respect them so that they can help us get the best harvests.

The anteater isn't a beneficial animal for the garden, so the title is a bit misleading, but it is beneficial for the entire ecosystem. I must say that I've never seen one, not even at the zoo when I was taken there as a child. They are animals native to the Americas, especially Central and South America.

They have a truly curious appearance, with that long nose or trunk where they keep their equally long and slimy tongue, which they use to capture the insects that are their source of food.
They are called anteaters, although what they actually eat most are termites. But that depends a lot on the species. What is clear is that they keep insects at bay and prevent pests.
A curious thing is that, although they are called bears, they are not related to bears.
