Yes, I know it was a very commercial headline typical of a 2000s internet portal or a 90s magazine, but my brain is a little fried too from all the heat. So I wanted to make some quick recommendations now that half of Europe is boiling over.

Here are 10 easy tips to beat the heat, plus a bonus at the end.

• Wear light clothing, as it's essential and also makes sure it doesn't stick to your body.
• Drink water even if you're not thirsty. This is especially important for children and the elderly.
• Eat a low-fat, high-water diet. Fresh fruits like watermelon are perfect.
• Don't walk in the sun, or wear a hat if you do. You have to avoid heat exhaustion.
• That said, always seek shade whenever possible. Under a tree is better than under a building, which will create a refractory effect.
• Don't exercise except at night or at dawn.
• Close all the blinds in your house. It seems like a contradiction, but it prevents the heat from coming in.
• Of course, shower with cold water. This is obvious, but some people don't do it.
• If you're really hot, use ice, but never eat ice cream; better yet, yogurt. Ice cream is high in salt and dehydrating.
• If you can afford air conditioning, install it; it costs much less than you think.
