Two strange things happened that day.
Bola, a 25 years old lady full of strength who happened to be a software developer, had just received a call from her ex boyfriend begging her seriously for forgiveness and also begging her to accept him back as her boyfriend when the news came in that a very deadly virus was spreading rapidly over the city causing commotion and destruction everywhere.
Bola was confused and as well choked between the two situations.
Her heart still aches remembering what she passed through with her ex-boyfriend but then the virus took more of her attention, because it posed a serious threat to the city and its people. While she was still trying to process all that was happening Tobi, one of her closest colleagues from work walked into her office.
"Bola we need to leave immediately, the city is shutting down and we need to get to a safe place" Tobi said with his voice sounding so worried.
Bola, for sure, knew that what Tobi said was totally right; she quickly picked up her things and followed him out of the building. They walked through the empty streets, taking in the devastation that the virus had caused...Bola in particular was so surprised because she has never seen the city so free of people and calm lots of Buildings were abandoned, cars were literally everywhere with no drivers in them and the very few people they saw were all putting on face masks and keeping their distance
Bola and Tobi were like the only odd ones among the others. As they moved further, Bola sighted a large gathering of people at the center of the road; it seemed like they gathered around something. She had that feeling of going to check out why people gathered there. She knew she could put herself in danger, but she summoned courage to do as she felt. She tapped Tobi who was a little bit ahead of her. She pointed towards the gathering of people though she didn't say anything more but Tobi totally understood and so they hurried towards the scene.
As they got closer to the scene, they could see why people gathered together...they huddled around a man lying on the ground. This man seemed to be in his late 40s. He could barely breathe...it didn't take too long before Bola recognized him. She turned to Tobi and said "He is one of the doctors from the refugee center".
She immediately knelt by his side and began to administer Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Tobi also joined almost immediately to help keep the man's airway open. They felt like it was beginning to take too long, but eventually, the man began to cough and gasp for air.
As he regained consciousness, Tobi and Bola helped him to his feet. Tobi couldn't help but ask him what exactly happened. He then began to explain that he was on his way to the hospital when he collapsed. Bola knew that medical attention was needed urgently otherwise he wouldn't make it.
They waited for another 26 minutes just to see a working cab...well they eventually found one, and loaded the doctor into the backseat. Tobi sat by the doctor's right hand side while Bola sat at the doctor's left hand side they both tried to keep him conscious, while also monitoring his breathing. Not too long after, they finally arrived at the hospital and the doctor was rushed in for emergency treatment.
As they waited and hoped for good news from one of the doctors, Bola and Tobi sat in the waiting room holding each other's hand tightly....
Bola thought about the doctor and many others who were still fighting for their lives too. She knew that there was still so much work to be done.
Later that day, the doctor walked out of the operating room all by himself; he was weak but alive. He thanked Tobi and Bola for coming to his aid, risking their lives just to save him. Bola felt a little sense of pride and purpose all over her after that.
Bola and Tobi both walked out of the hospital back into the street which of course was still empty. Bola became more determined than she had ever been, to make a difference. She had found love not just love, she also found a new calling in life.
Together Bola and Tobi decided to dedicate their lives to helping people affected by the virus. They both worked tirelessly, so as to help the city recover as quickly as possible.
Few Years later, when the virus was already becoming nothing but a history, Bola remembered that very day the virus broke out with a sense of gratitude the two strange things That day somehow guided her to a life that she could never have imagined because during that period, She found love, purpose, and a sense of fulfillment ( one that she had never known before ).
As she looked into Tobi's eyes, she knew quite alright that she had made the right choice although the virus had taken much from them but it had also given them a new life.

Wow! The event turned out great at the end. It looked bad at first but at the end it was good for her. Such an interesting story.
Yeah thanks for reading 😁😁
After what the world just went through, it is great to read a story with a positive outcome like this, even if it is fiction! Life imitates art; I do not doubt there were people in reality who were inspired by the pandemic the same as Bola and Tobi.
Thank you for sharing! 🙏
You are right life does imitate art...thanks for stopping by 😁😁❤️
It seemed that life had a big answer to Bola's confusion over how to respond to her ex. As the world completely fell apart, seemingly quite rapidly, Bola found solace in Tobi's quick-acting nature. What an interesting story!
One note, the prompt this week is to start a story with the line "Two strange things happened that day". We will do our best to check back to see if you update to qualify for the contest or decide to leave it as is. (which is also fine!) Thank you for sharing your story with us, and for your engagement with other members of the community.
Hello thanks for commenting...this is actually my entry for the week's prompt. Thanks
The good thing is that they were able to save the man's life and the virus became an history
