When dreams meet reality

Life can be funny sometimes, because what you wish for might not be what life will bring for you and yet you can’t stop living since you don’t want to give up, I am glad my dreams are coming true anyway,” I thought on the hospital bed where I delivered my baby boy.

“Hey bestie,” my friend greeted me with a hug immediately she stepped into the ward where I was, she continued.

“Congratulations my friend and I am so happy for you,” she said.

“Finally, my dreams have come true after all these years, I am so grateful for this bundle of joy I just had,” I replied and we chatted a little bit before people started coming in to greet me.

Two days later,

“Wah! Wah! Wah!….,” the baby wouldn’t stop crying.

“What should I do now? When is your mom going to reach here for crying out loud,” I asked my husband angrily.

“Babe, you need to be calm at this point,” he said as he tried to walk away.

“Really? Like seriously? Calm down when the baby wouldn’t stop crying,” I replied to him.

“Then breastfeed him,” he whispered as he walked out of the living room to get something we could cook for breakfast.

Some hours later,

“Hello everyone,” my mother-in-law greeted from the entrance.

“Awww finally, the rescue team is here,” I said to myself as I stood up to get the door for my mother-in-law.

Four days later,

“Babe, how are you feeling?” My husband asked curiously.

“I am fine as you can see,” I answered him harshly.

“Like seriously, how are you really doing because ever since you gave birth you have changed totally,” he said.

“As how? I am ok,” I replied again trying to dodge my emotions.

“I am sorry if I made you upset in any way,” he said as he moved closer to me. That’s my husband for you he can apologize from now till tomorrow even when he didn’t do anything wrong.

Immediately he said that I felt bad for acting strange towards him, after all, I wanted the child too so why get upset for the stress of being a mother?

“I am exhausted, tired, emotionally down and my brain seems like it’s going to burst,” I said looking into his eyes while I nearly cried.

“I know and I am sorry for what you are going through right now, come to think of it, you are living the dream you have always wanted as my wife and the mother of my baby,” he made a jest of me while trying to calm me down.

“Haha, I know I am living my dream to the fullest but at least I need to breathe,” I said to him and then continued.

“This motherhood has been my greatest dream and I am happy about it but I am choking babe,” I said while I hugged him so tight.

We talked a little bit before he went out.

On the naming day I couldn’t stop laughing as I was looking at my baby boy, he is the best thing that has ever happened in my life, and of course, my biggest dream that came true.

Hello @princess-dara

The birth of the first child is a great joy but everything revolves around the baby and that demands a lot from the mother. I understand very well how you felt because I also went through those moments of tiredness and exhaustion when my first child was born.

I really liked what you wrote to end “my biggest dream come true”. It was very tender.

Greetings and blessings ✨️

It has not been easy from the day I gave birth but the joy of having him gives me strength to keep going, and yes he is my biggest dream which I will cherish forever.
Thanks ma’am

Having a child involves endless changes and challenges that transform women into true mothers. Your dream has come true, even with many challenges, but in the end, having a child is a blessing.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Good day.

You are right about that, being a mother is a dream come true with greater challenges. But still, the joy of the baby wouldn’t let mothers look back at the stress and challenges.
