Heavy Betrayal

Jerry was driving to the hotel to arrange for accommodation for his business partners coming into the country.

While he drove, he was on a call with his best and long time friend, Kelvin.

"I want to give these partners the best treatment possible when they arrive. I really need to land this deal" Jerry told Kelvin.

"You're doing your best. I know that you'll definitely land the deal. It's just a matter of time" Kelvin replied

"I hope so. Well, I have to go now. I just arrived at the hotel" Jerry said and he cut the call.

He got into the hotel premises and suddenly he saw Kelvin's wife, Sarah leading a man into a room. They were kissing at intervals and could barely keep their hands off each other as they made their way to the room.

Jerry made sure that Sarah didn't see him. He watched in shock what happened. Jerry could not believe his eyes. He was heartbroken. He knew how much his friend, Kelvin, loved Sarah. She was everything to him. Jerry would have never imagined that Sarah would cheat on him.

He remembered how they were love birds. He admired the kind of relationship they had. Kelvin showered her with so much love. That's why it broke Jerry's heart the more seeing that Sarah was cheating on him.

Jerry went home that day and he was deep in thought. He felt bad for his friend who had no idea what his wife was up to. Kelvin had been happy since getting married. He would never have imagined his wife was up to such a thing. What Jerry saw now seemed to be a huge weight on him. He wondered if he should tell his friend. If he was finally going to tell his friend, how would he even go about it?

Jerry had a lot of thinking to do. He felt he had an obligation to tell his best friend about his wife's infidelity, but then, he didn't have any evidence. He wasn't sure if his friend would believe him, considering how much Kelvin loved his wife. Jerry didn't want to be seen as the one to destroy his friend's marriage. It was also possible that his wife could deny the allegations and twist everything.
This was a slippery situation and Jerry was confused about the best possible step to take.

The next day, Jerry and Kelvin were out having drinks in a restaurant. Kelvin was telling him about his plans to get a really good gift for his wife's upcoming birthday.

"I want to get my wife a gift that would blow her mind. I'm thinking of getting her a car" Kelvin said.
"A car would be nice" Jerry replied.

Kelvin noticed how disconnected and disturbed Jerry was.

"Is everything okay man? You seem bothered" Kelvin asked out of concern.

"There's something I have to tell you. I can't keep it to myself any longer" Jerry said.

"Okay, go ahead"

"You know you and I have been friends for a long time and I would never do anything to jeopardize your marriage" Said Jerry

"Yes I know that. You're scaring me now" Kelvin replied.

"Your wife is cheating on you. When I went to the hotel yesterday, I saw her kissing another man and going into a room with him" Jerry said.

Kelvin was quiet for a while, obviously in shock. He was trying to process what he just heard.

"That's a serious allegation. Are you sure about this?" Kelvin asked.

"I'm very sure. I know what I saw. I wouldn't tell you if I wasn't sure" Jerry replied.

"Alright, I will find out for myself" Kelvin said.

Jerry felt so relieved that a huge load had been taken off his shoulders. However, he was worried that his friend's marriage was about to end.

That night, Kelvin found out that around that particular time when she cheated, Sarah was not at the place she told him she would be. He confronted her and she confessed.

Kelvin was devastated. He loved her so much but he felt betrayed. He took his things and moved out of the house. They didn't have kids yet, so Kelvin opted for a divorce.

"Hey man. I confronted her and she confessed" Kelvin said in a sad tone over the phone.

"I'm so sorry bro. I know it hurts" Jerry said.

"I loved her with everything in me. I don't get why she would do this to me" Kelvin said as he burst into tears.

"She doesn't deserve you man. You're going to find someone better" Jerry replied.

Jerry was there to comfort and support Kelvin throughout the divorce process and he was ready to help Kelvin heal from the trauma.
