Going to the Countryside To Check Our Potential New Place

Following what my family went through last month, we decided not to go back to our old place because it's no longer safe. We have discussed possible things we could do, and we decided to take this opportunity to go back to the countryside.

It has always been my dream to live simply in the countryside again, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. My parents and I love gardening, so having more space to garden would be ideal. We're looking for a more peaceful place with fresh air and a less stressful environment.

Once we decided on it, I contacted one of my close friends in the high school I attended in the countryside. She lives in the next city (though it's more of a town than a city) from where we used to live. I asked her if she knows anyone who's renting their house at a reasonable price, since, as you know, we're starting from zero again. She told me she knows someone. It's a bit far from the road, but we'll be able to have our own garden and even take care of some animals if we like.

She didn't have a photo of the house, but she showed it to me via Google Maps. The area seems inconvenient on the map, but we wanted to check it out. So, when we got enough money to go there, my father and I headed to check it out.

First, we took a bus to the next municipality. The buses to the countryside don't go by the expressway, so we had to go there first and wait for the bus to pass. Well, we could go to the bus station in the next city, but it would cost more, so we opted out.

The bus we were on would only go to this small amusement park. We had to walk for more than 5 minutes to the bus stop, where we could ride to our destination. Guess what? We waited for more than an hour to get on a bus. T_T There were a lot of other buses, but they're mostly going south. Our destination is the western coast of the island, and my current city is on the eastern coast. Well, at least we could sit properly, even though it wasn't an air-conditioned one.

It actually rained the night before, and while we were on the bus, the rain was on and off. Look at the river we passed on our way to our destination. It looks scary...

The rain wasn't even that heavy, but the current of the river was strong... and it looked so muddy. It's the same as the water that entered our house that day.

Entering the mountainous area felt much better. The sun was shining, though there were some parts where it would rain again. The ride from the bus stop to the port took 1.5 hours. Actually, the city we're possibly transferring to is where the port for ships heading to my father's hometown is.

The port was just straight ahead, but we had to go to the tricycle parking area (motorcycle with a sidecar) to get there. Yes, it'll take more time and travel... hahaha

It took another 20 minutes or so to get here. This school was our landmark. My friend had to take care of something first, so my father and I decided to follow the map and go there. Anyway, the caretaker lived nearby so that we could talk to her about some house-related stuff.

We could see the house from the road. It's the white one at the back. However, we can't pass through this area. We had to go around a little bit.

We have to follow this minor road going inside... :) We had to walk for about 3 minutes because it was a bit muddy, but it could have been less. And here's the house and its surroundings.

Yes... definitely the kind of place I want to live in. hahaha We couldn't talk with the owner, but her husband took us around the house... my friend was there, too! There are some needed repairs here and there, but nothing really major. We still need to reconnect the water line and apply for the internet installation, and we'll need the budget for that.

My friend is going to talk to the owner for us since she's the direct contact for now. We'll be waiting for updates, and at the same time, my family and I will have to find ways to raise the funds needed to transfer. Hopefully, we'll be able to transfer soon.

We wrapped up the visit, and after catching up with my friend for a bit, we headed back to the city. It was sunny on our way home... and we got to take an air-conditioned bus, so it was much more comfortable.

The river was calmer, too. It's nice to experience such weather again after a series of rainy days.

We arrived at our temporary home at around 3 PM. It was quite a busy Sunday, but it was worth it. I can actually see myself living there. When my father and I told my mom about the place and showed her pictures of the house and its surroundings, she liked it too.

We have already started talking about what to plant in the garden and what improvements to make in the house. hahaha We're manifesting! But really, we truly hope to live there, so we'll do our best!

I'll end this post here since I'm already tired and I have early classes tomorrow morning. hahaha See you around! (^^,)/
