As you may have noticed from my posts, I may love buying silver but I also love getting myself the occasional monetary oddity, like for example these plastic coins from Transnistria I got like a month ago.
So I was doing some googling and came across something really fun and interesting ππ
I always thought that the 100 trillion dollar bill from Zimbabwe was the highest denomination bill ever issued. Here's how it looks like in case you have never heard of it before
Sidenote, I have yet to score one but I have the second biggest banknote from the same country. 500 millions Zimbabwean dollarsπ
Here's a quick photo I just took, along with a 100 billion dracmai bill from post world war 2 Greece. Needless to say, both of them were minted in times of super mega high inflation and they were probably worth less then their weight in....toilet paper:
And in case you wonder, here's how 100 trillions is spelled in...numbers
100,000,000,000,000
Yeah... That's a lot of zeroes and at that point it really shows how shitty and impractical the Zimbabwean currency had become.
But!
Turns out the biggest denomination bill ever issued was the 100 million billion pengo. Or... The 100 quintillion pengo. Lmao π
Here's how many zeroes that is
100,000,000,000,000,000,000
(via Wikipedia, public domain)
This bill lasted for only 20 days before it was withdrawn and it was only worth about 0.2 $ ππ
The 100 million b.βpengΕ banknote is a note that was printed by the Republic of Hungary in 1946, during a period of massive hyperinflation. Produced in Budapest by the Hungarian Banknote Printing Corporation under the authority of the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) on June 3, the note was first issued to the public on July 11 and then withdrawn twenty days later, on July 31, due to the introduction of a new forint currency. source
Interestingly, there was an even bigger denomination bill issued that was never put into official use. The one sextillion pengo:
Heres how many zeros a sextillion has by the way
1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
Unfortunately, I don't see myself buying any of these super cool pengo notes. I did some googling and they seem to be super expensive, like a minimum of 50 $ per piece or something. Thanks but no thanks π
Uffffffff, all those zeroes made me super dizzy. Good thing all these super inflationary bank notes are a thing of the past...

Here's another worthless crap valued at $50 and above from my country. I don't get people paying that much for this shit. But then again there are quite a few who don't get us for buying internet money...
Well it's one of a kind monetary oddity to own so I think price is ok.. Just tooexpensive for my taste!
I forgot to upload the pic for that comment.
I hope it now makes sense. I was referring to "this crap" here made off plastic. Romanian banknote...
Wow this is the type of info that makes Bitcoin Theory reral.
I think inflation in most countries is terrible, but you haven't really suffered until you live through hyperinflation. I saw pictures of Venezuelans pushing literal wheel barrels of Venezualan Dollars to stores to buy things a year or two ago. But these high denomination bills are really a mind blowing Fiat Denomination. They make everything real!
But you still need fiat to get BTC so.... π
True.
Wonder what happened to the credits in pengo
Credits? What do you mean ?
Debt
I can't wait until "We the People" start Shipping Staggering Amounts of our "Circulating" Silver and Gold Coins, all over the World...
There are way too many zeros and I think it would also be quite tough to make sense of the pricing on things. With so much being printed, prices would be changing daily.
Or hourly,lmao
Wait, I thought nothing comes after trillion...
Can't believe this is in the same world we livin not from other dimensions.
Honestly Gotta say that 100 billion dracmai bill and last one's are pretty dope!
Learning new numbers with ridiculous currency π
And here I always find the yen slightly ridiculous. Β₯100 = $1. Well, about $.70 now, but it'll probably bounce back up soon enough. When I spend Β₯10,000 bills, it always seems even more silly. Just rebase the currency and chop off those two extra zeros, making $1 = Β₯1 as it was before WWII. Or create a new unit equal to 100 yen.
But the silliness of the yen pales in comparison to the ones you post about!
Just wait, I have something even more silly π
Same here I wanted to get them stupid high denominations but they got some stupid high premiums, there is a way to get freshly printed discontinued notes from some online places .... don't ask me why or how I know but I could not find them recently google be blocking them or something
Fucking google π
Tell me about it, maybe worth while finding one again but I think they would likely not sell these bills for the lows anyway probably selling these reprints trying to cash in on these high premiums
Living close to the Huns ... I mean Hungary I will definitely keep an eye for that banknote, you never know :)
Good luck with that π
would make a nice gift for some retard I know :P

Iβm sure you will, and I look forward to it.
That was really funny
π
That's what happens when you keep printing money, a lesson many of our governments should be heeding... In Ecuador they ran into the same type of problem so they adopted US currency. They use the US dollar in Ecuador!
Congratulations!

Interesting!
I though trillion is the highest number
I didn't even know thst we have notes that are expensive that way in the world...lol but not compared to the USD
It's a bit fun to have a few of these to have for a good laugh now and then.
It is always interesting learning of other currencies.
Yeah, especially the odd ones!
