Happy Thursday everyone, Friday is rapidly approaching along with the weekend! Here in California it's a bit of a cloudy day, but sometimes that's a nice change from the sun. And at least it's not raining or snowing! Weather is the main reason I moved here in the first place, but with how expensive things are becoming I am still very seriously considering moving to a less expensive state. I would miss the weather, so maybe Florida? Plus I can do some treasure hunting again out that direction!
Today I didn't have any real subject in mind, but then I recalled seeing kind of a unique coin series being produced by France this year. They are minting a series of coins based on the Zodiac, one for each sign. What's even more interesting is the size, just 0.5 grams of pure gold in each coin. Right now micro gold is the best way to invest in the yellow metal due to it's high prices and France seems to have embraced this fact. Today I decided to share the Virgo because it has a great design. Just look at all the detail in these tiny, tiny coins!

These are being produced by Monnaie de Paris, which is the mint for all French currency. It's been in operation since 864 A.D. and is one of the oldest continuous working mints in the world, not to mention one of the oldest companies still is existence. An interesting factoid is that it was established by Charles the Bald, grandson of Charlemagne, and incidentally happens to be an ancestor of mine. So I found that fascinating. However, it you are an emperor, it would suck to be stuck with a moniker like "the bald". "The tall" or "great" would be much nicer way to be remembered than "the bald", but that's just me...
The value of the gold in the coin at current market price is $77.78 as of the time or writing, but the asking price on these in presale is $169.99 at APMEX.com. That's a pretty steep premium! As cool as these things are they are expensive due to the artistry and the fact they are an actual coin versus just bullion. Still a little more than I would be willing to pay, I'd rather get the half gram of gold at a price much closer to spot price.
Will these have any real collector's value down the line? With a mintage of 2,026 they might, but it may be quite a few years down the road. I think I'd still stick with bullion...

Gold and sliver have both been making comebacks in price since the start of the Iran conflict. While it's still not over and oil prices still are high some investors seem to be taking profits from the oil and putting part of it back into precious metals. Hopefully this will be a continuing trend! Both metals are in short supply, more silver than gold right now, but the charts do most of the talking.
First up gold over the last five days with an upward trend:

But to really understand why gold is a great place to invest, just look at the prices over the last year. Talk about a huge climb! Prices aren't likely to drop either, and with all the world instability they will likely increase as they are a safe haven for investors.

Just remember, silver and gold have been money for mankind since long before recorded history and will continue to be forever. They will always have value and are a safe place to invest long term as they will likely appreciate over time increasing your personal wealth. If you don't have a gold or silver stack now is the time to start!

That will do it for this Thursday, I hope you liked the tiny one half gram 5 Euro coin being produced by France. These small gold coins or small bullion are a great way to invest in gold as prices are so high. It's expensive to buy one Troy ounce of gold anymore... Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you for all of your support. It is deeply appreciated. Have a great day everyone!

That's a super awesome coin. Hopefully the water stays away from all of us for a bit. We are basically flooded in my neck of the woods. I think they might finally pull the warning tomorrow.
It is nice to see Gold going up again
$169.99 for that gold coin is indeed very expensive

Hehehe, the bald guy, hehehe, sounds good. Oh, you have renowned ancestors, that's nice. Gold will always be a good investment; just ask the space industry.

Absolutely well stated my friend..............."Silver and Gold have been money for mankind since long before recorded history and will continue to be forever."👍😀
Very cool Gold coin, I like the idea that they're minting fractional gold coins, I just wish the premiums would come down a bit Lol!!😇
