I've always been a big fan of older Splinterlands edition cards; they're powerful and remind me of a magical and lucrative era in the game.
Today I'm going to talk about the Axemaster, an epic card from the Water deck that will be a great ally for dealing damage in battle.

This is the Axemaster, and it may not seem very powerful, but what makes it powerful are its abilities, so let's get to know them.
The Axemaster has 3 abilities: Double Strike, Close Range, and Cripple.

Double Strike: Attacks twice each turn.
This ability is why I like the Axemaster because with it, the Axemaster will deal a lot of damage in battle.

Close Range: Can use ranged attacks from the first position.
One of the main weaknesses of ranged cards is not being able to attack in the first position, so this is a great ability for ranged cards.
You'll like Axemaster even more when the Going to the Distance rule is in effect in battle.

Cripple: -1 to target's max health after each successful attack. Does not affect units with Immunity.
This is a great ability against cards that have healing abilities.
Combining the Cripple ability with the Double Strike ability makes Axemaster an even more incredible card.
Now let's take a look at Axemaster in battle.

I'll use this battle as an example because it shows a type of battle where using Axemaster isn't very advantageous.
In this battle, the Collateral Damage rule applies, and having the Double Strike ability isn't a good option for this type of battle.

Collateral Damage: Each successful attack also deals 1 damage to adjacent allied units.
This battle rule is bad news for your allied cards.
My strategy for the battle is simple: I use several cards that increase the attack speed of my allies and decrease the attack speed of my enemies.
It wasn't an easy battle because the Axemaster's Double Strike caused a lot of damage to my allies, but in the end I was victorious.

Now I'll talk about the Arcade Colony platform. On it, you'll find the games: Splinterlands, Moon Karts, StakeHouse Den, and Genesis League Goals.
For those unfamiliar with Arcade Colony, it's owned by Invennium Corp. Arcade Colony is a platform for arcades and video games with a functional economy based on a governance token, "COLONY", and a product-backed stablecoin called "SCRIPT".
Invennium Corp. is a 100% subsidiary of Splinterlands.
