Direct from the desk of Dane Williams.
The first section of our guide to making money as a blogger on Hive went over how to get noticed on day 1 by taking advantage of the introduceyourself tag on your very first post.
We discussed showing that you’re here to add value to the community via quality content and ultimately contribute to the blockchain’s security by staking a portion of your rewards.
If staking HIVE is good enough for those who you’re trying to get juicy upvotes from, then they’ve gotta see that it’s also good enough for you!
Now as promised, here is the second section of our guide, focused on how to come up with a daily commenting strategy to engage with those in the community with stake.
The goal of your daily commenting strategy is to get people to upvote it, click your profile and upvote your latest blog or follow you.
You’re trying to get people with stake and a ready made following within the community to recognise you and what you’re doing.
Even if you don’t get an upvote straight away, a reply is a good result because you’re planting the seed of a long-term relationship that may lead to more upvotes down the line.
For maximum exposure, we’re going to use the LeoFinance front-end on Hive at leofinance.io.
LeoFinance is the finance community on Hive and one of the most popular in the entire Hive Web3 ecosystem.
If you want to get noticed, then this community is the best place to be.
Hint: As you’re trying to make money blogging on Hive, basically anything you’re writing about can be tied into this community’s topic of finance.
Keep that in mind and take full advantage of the exposure you will get by being here.
As soon as you open up LeoFinance, you’re greeted with 5 picks that community curators have sourced as being quality, discussion-worthy pieces of content:
These are entirely human picked and don’t rely on any sort of curation algorithm like Hive’s popular or hot streams.
All that matters in this regard is that they’re at the top of the home page and the first thing that EVERYONE sees.
Everyone, including those with stake are more likely to click these posts and give them an upvote because one of the team member’s has highlighted it.
Leave a comment with your opinion on the topic.
That’s it.
If you’ve never written a piece of related content, then don’t link to anything in your comment!
Hint: Don’t ever comment pLz vOtE mY bLoG sIr.
Only link to your blog under relevant anchor text if applicable or start a sentence with “As I wrote about on my blog yesterday…”
Play the long game by building a relationship on the back of adding value.
NEVER beg for votes in comments.
Now scroll down a tad and on the left hand side of LeoFinance, you’ll see the Popular stream:
These blogs are in this tab not because they’re necessarily the best or most discussion-worthy, but because they have earned the most upvotes.
All that matters to you however, is that they’re readily accessible via the LeoFinance home page and getting eyeballs on them every second of the day.
You need to also be putting yourself in the comments section of these posts!
Hint. The exact same commenting guidelines that we just spoke about in the previous section should also be applied here.
Keep in mind that these are in the popular tab because those with large stakes have already voted on them and likely have a relationship with the author.
If you play your cards right, you could be friends with the friend of a whale! (lol)
But seriously, these sorts of relationships are the key to making money on Hive.
All stemming from a daily commenting strategy that consistently puts your name in front of those with stake and shows that you’re here to add value.
So what are you waiting for?
Set a target of 10 comments per day.
That’s a comment on all 5 curators' choices and the top 5 posts in the popular stream.
Best of probabilities to you.
PS. Yep you guessed it, there’s a part 3 to this guide to making money as a blogger on Hive!
This next section talks about how to come up with niche specific ideas for your daily blog.
And then how to use the ready made LeoFinance community to build a lifelong following on your own Web3 Hive account.

Consistency consistency consistency. @zakludick I can hear you saying I told you so 🤣🙄 but really it does sound like one of those "eat well exercise regularly and you'll see results" schemes ....muncheschocolateundertheduvetwhilescrollingformemes
OK. Fine. 10 comments a day is totally doable. Thanks for the great post!
Cheers Claire!
Haha, this comment is great.
You can obviously write, you're going to do just fine here :)
PS. I love the look of what @zakludick is doing with you guys!
Mind if I ask what brought you to Hive and how you got involved in that group?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Greetings!
I got involved 4 years ago on the old blockchain. Initially, it was the chance to publish some fiction on blockchain publishing. Later on I found all the rest of the content and a whole social media.
I had a bit of a 3-year gap, I was going through so tough times and could not manage to write anything.
Years later, with the beautiful @clairemobey at my side, nourishing my soul, I have returned once more to the blockchain.
Initially, I was tempted back to the 'chain because I have a collection of Splinterlands cards and somebody offered to buy them from me. I then returned to the game to discover I had many thousands of dollars worth of NFT gaming cards and that the game itself had many updates and new awesome things.
I then discovered the hardfork and joined some communities online and got led down the path to start blogging again. Now I blog every day. I have a posting streak of about 57 days now. I post my fiction, food posts, gardening, diy and many more.
I have also started posting a daily Splinterlands stats post where I list the cheapest cards on the market per edition. Someone suggested I do this in Leofinance since it is related to crypto money making!
All this has really helped me towards my financial goals on Hive.
I then got my partner @clairemobey to join Hive, she does her music, food, philosophy, and psychology posts. I also started accounts for our three kids - @merenludick, @aimeludick and @matthew-williams! Their journeys have begun!
I started the year with 313HP, I am now on 553HP and counting and my goal was 800HP, but I will likely crush this target! It's not all about me, I also want to expand the number of people on Hive and the number of people in my local community that is on Hive.
Thus another goal is to get 22 new people onboarded and get each one to over 50HP. 2x of them are over 50HP and the last week my onboarding has exploded! If you want to check it out, my family+student's weekly stat post is here: Mobey-Ludick Household Hive Progress
Wow, this is a long comment. Haha. Sorry about that. This post is EXACTLY the kind of thing I need to show my Hive students! Besides the now 2 posts a day, I also do over 100 to 200 comments a week. That is also in my stats post.
Thank you so much for this, I will be sure to reference to it and write a guide of my own sometime later on. Cheers!

Thanks so much @forexbrokr ! Yeah, that's my signature move, to try to distract people with humour when they're trying to convince me to me productive 🙈. Yes, @ZakLudick has the whole family blogging and has even managed to onboard some of our friends. We're growing here in Cape Town and it's very exciting!
Haha! Brilliant babe! Yeah, this is exactly what I am talking about.
So.... I am going to respond to this first, then the follow-up comment and then the article. This looks like JUST the kind of thing I want to show my students!
hehehehe. Love you babe. Thanks for encouraging me. You're a fantastic teacher.

That could be done in one "conversation" when you think about it.
When people start to engage with each other, it starts to steamroll.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Absolutely. I love to engage. So many people leave their posts ad comments closed at the end, so there's no encouragement for further conversation, which is sad. I mean, 90% of the reason we're all here is engagement, right?
I definitely will be more interested in getting to know more about niches and daily blog ideas.
I do visit the curated feeds most times after I have gone through my feed.
Commenting is one way to promote yourself here on Hive for the long term. It's not an easy task tbh, at least for me but showing up daily helps.
Thanks for sharing this, hope to learn more in the next blog focused on Niches specific ideas.
Posted using LeoFinance Mobile
I see you're posting via LeoFinance mobile.
How are you finding the app?
Does it make commenting easier?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yes, it does. The app is still in beta mode, and sometimes has glitches, but it's a very good way to make engagement easier.
Posted using LeoFinance Mobile
I believe commenting is not an easy task too but a very good way to make things easier for us on hive and creating a form of awareness to the community at large
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It is not easy but rather simple. When you think about it, there isnt a lot of to it.
So people are basically being rewarded for learning a bit about finance.

Commenting is a great way to become known. This is a point that I think people overlook.
Plus people are essentially being rewarded for learning.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It's a learn and earn process.
We overlook a whole lot of things here and commenting is one of those things.
Learning more about the crypto world entirely is something you get for free here on leofinance.
Had I entered the crypto-verse through other projects out there, it would have been a horrible experience for me.
just like how some still see crypto as a get rich quick scheme, without seeing the true potential and how it's more than enough to impact the whole universe positively if we follow the learning process

Im first on how to bake clams? NIIIICE. This is a great post and now I have to go back and see where ya started. I like to make a lil chedder for my hive sammich. Some days my post expolde, but not hardly. I made posted in a community this past weekend and one of the head dudes thought I was gonna bash Ragge after he saw my title. But I didn't I just told the story of how I dig it. After that, it kinda blew up. Well for me it blew up. Ol boy said he could tell by my tags I was new. Told me to simmer down and think about what tags to utilize as I can get a lil more bang for my buck usiong the right tags.
Making that cash is like prety cool. I post on hive now more than I do on my other social media, aside from our business post there. I got my girl interested in the hive as i was making some coin. She wants to right and has a few post. But she don't know what to right about and she gets in her head and starts trippin. SO she wont write. Makes me sad because shes good at it. But she thinks folks are juding her stories n what not. I dunno.
As you may be able to tell. I never have a point, or do it just takes me awhile to get there. I cringe at the word "Niche" I have fought it for so long in our business and I will probably always fight it. My niche I think is about over coming adversity, midfulness, mental health, and living for today. I have no idea what tags to even nest that under. So I just pick random ones. See My girl and I both are plauged with mental illnesses. Most days are tough and the rest even tougher. We can get eachother through mostly but when we are both effd up at the same time, MAN ALIVE!!! We both understand human behavior pretty well in various degrees... This is funny. I do this all the time sidtrack I even put a disclamer at the begging of my post. If ya don't like this type of stopry telln, pop that clutch and boogie on down the roan... I had a thing to actuall say Mr. Dane Williamsd, or Mr. Desk of Dane Williams. But pur the Ush, I forgot it. TYvm for this post. Will you be doing one about tags? And how long do you reckon this series will be?
If you or anyone else made it through this mess of thought I would appologize, but I don't think people appologize for being eho they are... I'm just a dude with racing thought that can't keep from wondering off from the subject. I like to talk and some days I don't. Imma isolationist by trade but I love to socialize. Funny. N E WHO GRACIAS!!!
Have A Happy Day And Dont Forget To Be Awesome!!!

Yeti
I was the first to post but It took more than 14 min to actually post it, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Posted using Neoxian City
I chuckled when I saw your comments about niches. I have been finding a lot of people with a range of interests who don't want to be locked into a niche to define their work. I recently relaunched my newsletter and called it "Nicheless and Loving It".
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
you freakin get it!!!! @shadowspub I dunno if its getting pigeon holed or wtf ever it is. Just to hear some mention that word I freakin cringe. Now the area we live in is a great touristy niche. We would d so well if we were slinging Yosemite, or this towns collectable wear or some crap. But I cant bring myself to do it. More likely than not, we are loosing a lot of money, lol. STROOOOOOONG CONVICTIONS this boy ,boy. boy, I mean Yeti has. LOL

Finding a niche is easier said than done, for sure. You should be able to find something which already exists where you can publish your posts, make comments on other people's posts, and take it from there. At worst, you form your own community on Hive blockchain just so you have a place of your own.
Speaking of communities, there are literally 10s of thousands here. If nothing comes to mind, check out this list of communities as shown on PeakD. It's like reading the newspaper at the throne, so just be sure your legs don't fall asleep as you go through that list. If they fall asleep, you may as well keep going through that list until feeling returns to them.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
@magnacarta , funny thing. I actuallyy created my own community before I even made a post about me or anything!!! Then @traciyork and the INFAMOUS @lovesniper jumped my shit shit and said WHOOOOOA there big fella ur too big for em britches u be sporting. Take a step or a mile back and ease on into it. Since then I have only made a cpl post there in fear of retribution!!! HAHAHAHAHA..
As for the sleeping legs.. PFFT I have one of those lil foot pedle thingies to keep the blood a flowing, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!Thx for the reply. Got me to lol and big ol smile on this grill first thing this AM.

Thank you for these valuable tips series that you are getting out here. With many new cubs coming in, these are definitely must-reads.

Yep, and I expect many more to come!
The plan is to package this little series into a reusable piece of content for them.
Trust me, it wont get lost and go to waste :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That is a great plan and they will serve as a one-stop source of information. And yes, they won't go to waste and since it's in the blockchain, they will stay forever.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
This is how word spreads. People who follow some of these suggestions are likely to have more success than those who ignore them.
If a few people take the tactics mentioned and start to push forward, then it is worth it.

It sure is. And it's happening now, more are coming and getting engaged. The challenge is to keep at it.

I'm really starting to feel like a Pro after reading your second part of the series! And yes, leaving well-thought-out comments that indicate that you have read the blog is definitely recommended. But as I also said to @bozz in his post. That often takes even more time than writing your own blog. A well-thought-out comment requires that you have read the other person's content, and that takes time if you want to do it right. Anyway, for that we are of course on a SOCIAL blogging blockchain.
Good tips in your blog again. I can't wait to see part 3 appear in my Listnerds emails and in my followers feed of course. Thanks for writing this series!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah, you think that commenting takes a few seconds and then you're done.
But as I'm finding just going through and replying to the comments on my blog this week, commenting is certainly time consuming.
I guess you could just ask the first question that pops into your mind and be done with it?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I guess you should try that to know it?
For me? No way!!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
So I have to NOT be lazy - got it!
And look, you weren't shouting today 🙃
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
hahaha who would have thought of that right?! 🤣

Thought I could just wing it 😄
This one was written at the end of the week so I wasn't as grumpy ;)

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I'm enjoying this series you're putting together. Getting some insight into your success around here. It's really a lot of common sense but it's also all stuff I can be doing better.
Also, your comment the other day meant a lot. Thank you.
I'm still troubleshooting that tag thing but hopefully it'll be in the rearview soon.
This is all :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Thank you for your efforts today. This was a really helpful post! Can't wait for your third part! 😎
You've certainly levelled up your engagement lately mate ;)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Haha, cool that you notice that man!
Trying to get the leo app on mobile to work though... Now its just "hanging" when I try to open it. So for now, in order for me to engage I need to open up my computer LOL!
When I fix the mob. app it will be much easier to engage, thus this will lead to more engagement and I will use your guides ofc 😎
Cheers!
haha! great tips and good advice for many!

Now to get something to rank on Google for 'how to make money blogging on Hive' ;)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I might give this a crack, see how I go.
Great tips, I'm surely going to put this to practice... I've been slacking in engaging since recently, I guess this serves as a wake up call for me.
I'll be looking out for the other episodes, but for now, I'll go read the first episode.
Thanks for the guide 😊
Happy to hear that it's the inspiration you needed to start commenting.
Leave a comment on every single blog in the popular section today.
Go! ;)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah, I will
And thanks for the reminder 😊
It will make a difference over time. Keep focusing upon what you are doing and where your account started from.
That will motivate you to keep going.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah, thanks so much sir 🙂
Wise words and practical advice. When I first joined Hive, I used it mostly as a bulletin board...I just posted stuff and walked away. I got very little action or traction. A couple of years later, I came back and decide I needed to engage more, engage in a real, authentic manner. That's made all the difference. I still need to do better on this, the time factor is always the obstacle, but the secret on Hive really isn't even a secret:
Good things will happen. !LUV

You're also in another category of someone who is offering value via the products you're building.
In my opinion, those with stake shouldn't be shy to support dev work via upvotes.
PS. I love the concept of Hivebits where every single one in existence means that someone actually took action by calling the bot in a social post on chain.
Keep up the great work!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I think this is one of the things that makes it different. I'm writing a post talking about this, hopefully this week some time I'll get it out.

Yes agreed, Commenting should be almost if not more important than writing a blog at first
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I'd agree with that statement!
When you're first starting, you don't have a ready made audience of followers or autovoters on your blog.
So you NEED to build that via getting your name out there in the comments section of popular blogs.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Those are good nuggets and easily achievable as long you can type fast and ready to make a run.
Great advice for everyone.
!BEER
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I wouldn't even say that you have to be able to type fast.
If you upvote a post, then you surely have a question you can ask.
Only needs to be a sentence to add value by starting a conversation.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
We can find nuggets in many different places.
That is if we are looking.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I'm not sure how long you have been on the platform, but remember back in the day the follow for follow or vote for vote comments? I also remember there used to be reblogging services so that you would pay to have a person with a huge following reblog your post. Oh my, how things have changed! Great post with lots of good info!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I just checked Hiveblocks and it looked like I started in June 2017 lol.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah there was a lot of stuff taking place then. Hard to remember how far we have come. It is completely different today compared to where we were.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It's the little things like those that, if done consistently over a long span of time will get you there.
Everyone should read and follow these guidelines

These are good tips to achieve engagement not only on Leofinance or Hive but on any other blogging platform.
Commenting, engaging, and adding value with those comments is important too.
Thanks for sharing, and it's good to know that the posts that appear in the curator picks are manually curated :)
Cheers!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah, there's a team of trusted LeoFinance curators who have the power to put you in there.
It's cool how the different Hive front-ends choose to display content published to the Hive blockchain.
This is just one such way :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Commenting on comments is vital too.
It all helps to stimulate conversation.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Of course, commenting and engagement are essential for the growth not only of our accounts but of the whole network in general. Of course, as long as they are comments that have sense.
This is what ultimately adds value and gives us social media status. However, if we look at the total number of users, there are few comments. Let's hope, this will improve.

I didn't understand what LeoFinance was. I assumed it was just for market investing and crypto. I was actually going to write a post about my investment strategies for what I earn from my scrapping and posting about my scrapping. I will go there and write the post on their front end. Thanks for the tips.
Technically it's the Finance community on Hive.
You do have to keep things on topic.
But they are very flexible - As I said, you can pretty much turn anything in the crypto blogging world into being related to finance.
Just use common sense, add value and you'll be fine using leofinance.io.
The extra LEO rewards will be worth it.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Another good blog!
This is actually relevant for me even though I have been here a while. Mostly because I have slacked for a long time in community involvement and am now getting back into commenting/interacting. Love the top-down prioritizing of commenting :-) Smart idea. After I finish that type of commenting I will add always replying to others who comment to me. No matter what. Good or bad :-)
I have had a few whale votes in my time. Most of them came from not my own posts. Most came from a comment on someone else's blog where I added an idea that was different or new to them concerning the topic they were writing about. Sometimes they were from an idea that helped them in a way they didn't see. A very few were from comments I made that were against there idea but structured in a non-offensive way.
Bottom line is engage, be real, don't beg, and be constructive. These things will not pay out immediately in most cases, but will pay out big on a long-term scale.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Your strategy sounds good to me!
There you go.
Happy to see that what I'm saying is also working for someone else out there *in the wild!
Haha, for some reason human beings don't like being straight up told they're wrong.
Even if they are!
;)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah. I know I don't :-)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Plz vote my post sir ;)
Great guide by the way. What some newbies are missing though is patience. It took me three years until I managed to monetize properly my blog.
Posted using LeoFinance Mobile
There's no teaching patience haha.
The majority of people just want quick wins with minimal effort.
Oh man, I went a ridiculously long time earning 1c per blog haha.
But I look back at how I was going about things, pretty much just sharing charts in my own little bubble.
I was never going to make money blogging like that.
And even now, I'm actually not at the point where I can sustainably withdraw every week.
So everything I earn just compounds for now.
But I'll get there! ;)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Commenting, replying to comments are soooo important.
Just engaging overal is the key to grow your account and therefor help the community.

You are welcome @forexbrokr 😎
I’m still a newbie from December but so far engagement helped me grow so much in a very short time 😉 I’m happy about that.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It's a great way to get noticed and 10 comments a day is definitely doable for most people. At the same time, I would note that people should also reply to comments in their own blog if they are there (if applicable).
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yep, good advice,
I make it a thing to always upvote and reply to every single comment that gets left on my blogs.
If someone takes the time to leave a comment, then I want to engage.
In my opinion, everyone here on Hive and LeoFinance should have this mindset.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Golden info! 10 comments a day is 70 comments in a week. 70 chances to make money :') 70 chances to make lifelong friendships. 70 chances to get exposure.
No other social media platform has this kind of value prop.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Literally anyone can do it if they put in the time and a relatively small amount of effort.
Do it people!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
They are good advice and it is clear that they work, you just need to see your publication, the votes and comments it has.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yep, I'm certainly not the best writer here.
But I have been in the top 5 commenters on LeoFinance for months.
Every chance I get to put my name out there, I take.
And I'm happy to see the engagement on my blogs going up and up as a result :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Well yeah, commenting is actually showing search engines that there is some activity on the platform thus helping rank the website better.
Yep.
And when the Google crawler reads a blog, content is content.
Doesn't matter if it's in the body of the blog itself or someone else's comment.
Nice addition :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Thanks :)
I would probably add only to comment if you have something to add to the discussion. Mindless spam comments are going to be annoying.
But if you've upvoted something, then that means it interested you in some way?
You will ALWAYS have something to add to the conversation.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
As your email said "Comment, comment, and then comment some more!" that is the best way to get recognized and make some crypto. Thanks for sharing on ListNerds
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Cheers for continuing to take action Bob :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I assume that its not just the commenting itself, but upvoting the post you are commenting on as well, that helps get you noticed and in the minds eye of those who can help build your profile and presence
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
If you're brand new and have 0 stake, does a vote worth zero really matter?
I'd say you're better off showing that you're here to add value through your content even if you aren't yet able to with your upvote.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It matters because it gets the clock moving toward the moment we pass dusting threshold and finally see the curation rewards in our notifications. More reason to follow the accounts for both @dustsweeper and @dustbunny.
If a newbie never votes, then the newbie is locked at 0 stake with zero movement. That's just math.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Since I learned the hard way that begging for votes is very bad and damages the image, I never did it again in my life, and by the way the strategy of commenting on popular publications is very good, one gets more exposure.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yep, your evolution here in the LeoFinance community has been great to see.
I'm certainly happy to keep upvoting you in comments where I see you adding value and I'm sure others with stake are the same :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I love how you make everything seems easy by sharing one of the most valuable secrets on hibe which is commenting, commenting helps us not only in exposure but also to know what to post by adding to our knowledge
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yep, and if you don't know what to post, then just ask a question.
That's another simple trick that solves the problem of people saying they don't have anything to say.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That is a great trick and I love that, instead of saying things out of context just ask a reasonable question
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Very nice I have to say I tried to block out like 30 minutes to a hour a day for just comments but that gets pretty tiring! What I've done now is simply split it up into 10-15 minute blocks as the trending and popular posts are always changing to find some new good posts easily but also then to explore in the new section. There's a lot of winners in the new section that don't get much attention yet and I'm trying to get them at least a little.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yep, it's all about finding balance.
...a balance that I haven't even found myself.
I am still replying to comments days later on these blogs, which has sucked time away from my own writing.
Cheers for stopping by :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I guess the difficulty I have with commenting is that I imagine it should feel natural, not like I'm forcing my presence into a discussion in a manner that feels out of place. The only way I can do that is by reading content until I find a discussion or topic that sparks an idea of merit, and then communicate it.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah, that's certainly a good point.
This is where finding the niche community that interests you may help.
For example I spend all of my time in the LeoFinance community so use the leofinance.io front-end's popular section.
As its a community I'm interested in, most posts in that stream I will have some sort of opinion on and if I don't, then I'm usually versed enough to be able to just ask more about the topic.
Something I couldn't do if say I was hanging out in the foodies community looking to catch the eyes of whales.

We should be making comments using the strategy @forexbrokr outlines in this post, but there will be posts where we simply can't comment for whatever reason. In that case, we skip over until we find posts where we comment. So for us to leave at least 10 comments, we may need to skip over 1 or 2 posts and the comments in them.
Thankfully, the comments themselves give us opportunity to comment even if the post itself goes over our heads.

I found this really useful and would definitely follow the guide.
It doesn't look like a difficult task.
Thanks for these tips.
It's not.
Just add value.

It's a good target to achieve
I will choose the topic that I know and I like to comment. Then I can comment on comment to achieve the above target.
Because I don't like spam comment.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Another handy trick is to just ask a question if its not a topic you're an expert on.
Most blog authors will be very happy to expand in the comments.
I know I am.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I'll say this is a good strategy, but not everyone has a good post for Leo although Leo is a good place to find great finance content for comments. That's if you can get through all the finance talk and understand it. While many may have the concept of basically handling money which requires basic math, gets bored with anything more, like finance. That's like a whole other math concept and language to most.
I love math at any level and love finance even more but lately I find reading about finance not as interesting as I used to when I was younger.
You give good tips but I would apply them to a different frontend on another topic.

What you say is probably true. Of course, most people have few basics regarding finance. So the fact that people resist is probably not a good thing. The level of financial intelligence for the average person is not great.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Most of us are so focused on the crypto aspect of the community that we tend to forget about the finance aspect unless it's about LEO or HIVE.
There's still topics we can write about which are more meaningful to us than just "following the markets":

Thanks for the list, I'll print it out and hold onto it for the times I need something to write about.

Sure man thanks for the comment @forexbrokr
Well written. I'm currently writing a series for newbies learning the basics of getting started on Hive. It's up to part 8 and more coming.
How many parts are you expecting to do on your series? It would make a good resource to point to for those having gone through the basics.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
This content will all end up being compiled into my how to make money blogging on Hive guide:
P2 at the moment for the long tail keyword of 'how to make money blogging on hive'.
With the eventual goal to rank this for the much more competitive 'how to make money blogging' keyword.
In terms of all these smaller sections, I'm just trying to word the titles to rank on Google themselves.
But the overall purpose for each section is to increase the rank of the main guide that I'm linking back to.
What is the plan for yours?
Due to my LEO stake, I'm all about trying to drive ongoing traffic to leofinance.io so the ad revenue can be used to increase the value of LEO.
For this reason, I'd encourage you to use the LeoFinance front-end to publish (not just tag it) and also to not duplicate it onto Medium.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
My question was how many parts to your series you were expecting to have and reference point to be able to point to. You seem to be more focused on where it will be in Google.
It's nice your interest and focus is on LeoFinance. I don't focus on writing crypto and finance as a regular practice. I also don't "just tag" LeoFinance on my posts. When I write a relevant post I post to the LeoFinance Community. Or is that not supposed to be used?
My focus is on reaching out to Newbies and people who may be interested in coming into Web3 through Hive. There is zero reason for me not to post my content to Medium. I also help to cohost a Twitter Space each week for the same purpose.
So, I will continue to use a general frontend, create content that I want to create and place my content where I choose to.
Not a bad strategy, but 10 comments a day will keep you out of the top 10 hive interactions.) I think at least 30 comments a day.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
10 is just an easy starting point.
If you can do 30 a day, then go for it!
Just add value and don't spam meaningless crap ;)

This is a great strategy to engage with other content creators and in time earn engagement back possibly on your blog while earning a bit of curation doing so. LEO challenges like Khal offering 100 LEO to anyone that engages more than he does is a very nice initiative to bring more comments for sure! Great post !1UP !PGM !PIZZA

Challenges like that are nice short term sugar hits, but for consistent rewards, you want to be building meaningful relationships with those with stake.
Add value with your comments, don't just chase numbers.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I try to add value and not chasing numbers, is that what you got from my comment? He is building engagement within a community with this sugar hit he pays out weekly while not looking for investors this way I don't believe. I also do not chase those with stake to add value via my commenting, while adding value sounds nice it is just a more effective way of chasing numbers.
This is a really timely reminder for me. I will definitely have to step up my approach to Hive using this guide.
I'm impressed to learn that curators handpick the contents shared on the curator's pick section.
I am wondering however, how do someone earn such a spot?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
This is just a leofinance.io feature.
I sound like a broken record, but curators earned the position by showing that they're here to add value.
They are now tasked with finding content that does the same.
Create good content, put yourself out there by commenting on other popular blogs and you will get noticed by curators.

I'll surely do better. Thanks mate
It's a very sinical but accurate summary of commenting on leo and hive.
Go after the low hanging fruit, the top posts, biggest accounts and see what votes can be gained.
Highly effective though as a lot of the top writers on leo have a big stake and reward in the comments.
Even better is making a name for yourself and getting recognition in the community. That is where the long term value lies and going down the levels to the smaller users can have value in that way as well.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
This is the way :)
Build relationships by adding value and reap the benefits long term.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Self-interest is a beautiful thing when it is put in service to help others. After all, if what we do helps others succeed, why shouldn't we benefit from that effort?
It's OK to go for the low-hanging fruit as we seek to add value to our own accounts as we add value to the accounts of others in terms of the content we offer. Without low-hanging fruit, we starve! Over the long term, our success depends on others succeeding. In this way, the whales need the plankton as much as the plankton needs it's own survival.

Nice writeup, great commenting strategy but....
I use Leofinance front end most time when I have business or finance related blog, and that's rarely And I have tried commenting on post there but majority of the post are filled with technical talks about crypto currency and its trend which I can not relate with.
And this is somehow painful because I really want to familiarize myself with the Leo community but don't know where to start?
So for now can this strategy work on other hive frontends? And how?
I'd recommend focusing on a niche or community that actually interests you.
Obviously if you're passionate about a topic then you're going to be able to add value.
If you don't understand it, then it's just not going to work.
But don't worry, there are plenty of HIVE whales to catch the attention of outside of LeoFinance :)
Jump into the other communities where you feel more comfortable and do the same thing.
Just add value :)

Yep, it's all about adding value.
Thanks for stopping by mate!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Nicely said. Commenting is also the best way to enjoy the experience of blogging on Hive, whatever the front end you are using. It is the only way to form long term relationships of any kind.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
And long term relationships lead to long term support by those with stake.
Relationship building is key :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It's funny. I think of it the other way around. Relationship building allows me to help others.
Hmmmm I get to no this when I joined this community few days ago ,now I no how important it is to comment and engage with more people @forexbrokr your post are very informative and useful for me and it really helping my growth am a novice here so I stand to be corrected I case of any mistake
Cheers for stopping by Toby.

Thanks for having me @forexbrokr
Holy dino nuggets batman, over 200 comments!
Comments are a good place to start when networking. Maybe I'm just not in the right circles because I hardly ever see posts worth commenting on beyond just "that's cool" or "ew... What were you thinking?" though I would never be that mean.
Leo is a tough nut to crack for me. I love crypto, I love money, but enough to write about them? I dunno.
Too bad Hive's 7 day reward pool encourages people to churn and burn short term content instead of updating evergreen pieces like this ;)
Someone on layer-2 will eventually figure out the true value of evergreen content, incentivise editing old content and actually use the revenue it can generate to keep their token sustainable.
Eventually...
Maybe...
(The LeoFinance team is supposedly collecting ad revenue with a plan to use that money to buy back and burn LEO. But who knows when or if it'll actually happen.)
There is certainly a lot of crap on Hive, I know...
And you're certainly not alone in being intimidated by Leo's niche focus!
But while the LeoFinance community scares people away due to being the focused 'finance and investment community', it certainly has an engaged community.
So if you want proper engagement, I'd really encourage you to give the commenting strategy outlined here (via leofinance.io) a go.
You don't have to love crypto and definitely don't have to be an expert to get involved.
I mean just the fact you're here on Hive shows you have a crypto journey story to tell.
One that others no doubt can relate to.
So jump into the comments on Leo and share your 2c :).
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah, I hate the seven day window. Of course I remember when it was a one day window back when Steem started. It's good pressure for constant creativity, but it does force a creator to push out less than their best if they want to be a consistent earner.
DTube kinda solved that issue by allowing the user to manually claim rewards once after seven days. The video can accrue DTC indefinitely until claimed. Too bad DTube has a terrible interface and doesn't mesh well with Hive.
Is the LeoFinance front end exclusively for finance related posts? A long long time ago I posted some of my normal artsy fartsy posts in something Leo related (might have been the community, it was a year or two back) and got massively downvoted because it wasn't finance related. That pretty much spooked me out of ever posting anything with Leo until threads came along (unless it was a crypto related post).

Which piece of advice did you find most helpful for yourself?
How are you planning on implementing it?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Well, I didn't think about a target of 10 comments per day. It could reflex some improvement in my account if I arrive to stick at this target.
I also usually get to my feed and read made a review of trending. But what I will try to follow is the Curator's pick up.
What about if I notice downvotes in a Post even if I like it, should be it a Red flag!?

10 comments a day. I can do that!
However, I will need to make the 10 comments as you had written about here first before I make other comments as usual.
