Something's not going according to plan.

Planning is a very interesting invention of people who think they can plan something and everything will go exactly as planned.

Perhaps for this reason, almost every company has a planning department whose goal is to plan everything so that neither flood nor drought can disrupt these plans.

However, this is a very shaky hope... you've read The Golden Key or Pinocchio, haven't you?

Papa Carlo agreed to accept a log of wood from his cunning friend, Giuseppe, and planned to make a puppet, a marionette, which he could manipulate and entertain the crowd with the sounds of a barrel organ.

At this stage, it looked like unripe apples firmly clinging to a tree branch, with nothing to stop them from ripening.

You remember what Papa Carlo's work led to: he ended up with a wooden boy, over whom he had completely lost control, and who behaved differently than planned.

The apples, too, succumbed to the gust of wind and fell to the ground, never having gained their color or sweetness.

There's something the developed human brain can't account for, and a rotten apple, which has become somewhat similar to this intelligent organ in our heads, mocks our desire to plan.
