I want to become a beekeeper! - Choosing the right time to start.
Today I want to share another thought about beekeeping for a beginner in this business like me, who is already mentally prepared for this, the only thing left is to put it into practice.
And this thought is that, although there is no need to rush into making a decision, when the idea is fully formed, you need to have time to jump on the footboard of the departing train and this train, ideally, leaves from the platform twice a year, but the destination will be slightly different.
This concerns the purchase of bee colonies, or bee packages that consist of several frames with bee brood, sealed and unsealed, there can be from four to six of them, depending on the generosity of the seller and there will be a lot of worker bees on the frames, and of course a fertile queen bee will be present.
As a rule, bee packages are sold twice a year, in April, before the acacia blossoms, and in June, when the nectar harvest is low and everyone is waiting for the sunflower to blossom.
April bee colonies are usually expensive, three to four times more expensive than those that can be bought in June.
A bee colony bought in April is much easier to grow and try to collect at least some honey harvest in the first year, while a bee colony bought in June does not give much chance of this, but, on the other hand, I will have a chance of a quick start in the spring if I manage to save the bee colony and it does not die during the frosts.

In some ways, this is similar to the fairy tale Cinderella, I did not have time to do all the work before midnight and the carriage turns into a pumpkin :)
Below you can see my containers with data that I collect in INLEO and always have quick access to them it is very convenient.
Material thoughts about beekeeping №1
When I visited dense forests, I did not see ideal conditions for bees there, but many beekeepers harvest beekeeping products in such places.
