Helplessness.
Love, hate, joy and sadness, the list of feelings that people experience is very contrasting and there are almost no halftones in it, unless you consider indifference as a halftone... but even indifference has a degree of strength of this feeling: someone is indifferent to other people's problems, and someone is indifferent to sweet dishes, or to semolina porridge.
But, there are situations when you dream of indifference lol, yes, especially when a person is visited by another feeling, which is usually called helplessness.
For example, you want to be indifferent to noisy neighbors who have forgotten about the norms of decency and arrange a drunken brawl in the middle of the night, or to annoying mosquitoes that have arrived, smelling the aroma of our blood.
Yes, today I remembered one moment when I felt absolutely helpless and it was in a dense forest near a swamp when I was surrounded by a cloud of midges and they bit me mercilessly.
I felt the midges running in my hair, I tried to crush them, but even that didn’t make the midges smaller.
At that moment I decided to focus on picking mushrooms and to some extent it helped me to distract myself and not think about the annoying insects.
I was reminded of that incident by a photo I took on the outskirts of a village where horses were grazing.
The horseflies densely covered the area around the horses’ eyes and apparently caused the horses a lot of discomfort, but the horses were helpless and couldn’t drive these uninvited guests off themselves.
So I saw what is called helplessness.
