Being a bird, a new experience.

Being a bird, a new experience.

Being a bird—that's the new experience I came up with for myself, since I hadn't paid attention to farm poultry for many years.

Yes, I was a parent of Panamanian stcrisoma, a type of egg-laying catfish, and I'm familiar with the care and breeding of carp.

Since childhood, I've been interested in breeding hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and rabbits. I've thought about breeding parrots, but somehow it never worked out.

Now I've set myself the goal of learning everything about raising and keeping laying hens, broilers, and quail.

It's an interesting and very complex topic. If you want to provide your family with eggs and meat, there are many nuances to consider, which we'll discuss later. For now, I'm interested in the very fact of caring for chicks as adult birds would, and a person taking on this part of the care of the young, essentially acting as a hen.

I don't know if I'll be able to do this, but the very fact that you can experience so many joyful moments from hatching a chick and watching them grow is very interesting and draws me to delve deep, like a diver, into studying all the nuances.

Quails and chickens have many similarities and differences in their care, and you either need to decide which one to keep in the future or arrange their housing and cages so that you can quickly switch from one bird to the other.

And this depends on the room's dimensions, temperature, ventilation, and humidity.

Moreover, if it's too hot, there's a risk the birds will suffocate, and if it's too cool, it will negatively impact the birds' growth and egg production, and quails can die even at five degrees Celsius, though chickens will survive.

In short, there's plenty of scope for engineering here, lol. And the incentive, as I already said, is the chance to feel like a bird to some extent, maybe not a flightless one, but still :)

Material thoughts about beekeeping №1

When I visited dense forests, I did not see ideal conditions for bees there, but many beekeepers harvest beekeeping products in such places.
