Architectural virology.

As you know, virology is the science of viruses and their impact on living organisms.

And if, earlier, we thought about virology indirectly, when we took potions and pills, then, later, all the news screamed about it and each of us, to some extent, became a virologist, because we learned a lot about viruses during the Covid pandemic lol.

In particular, we learned that under the influence of the virus, we can lose our sense of smell and taste, food becomes different from usual.

This is understandable, but the strange thing is that long before we encountered the coronavirus, some virus affected all architects and architecture in general, as a result of which architects, apparently, lost their sense of taste and forgot how to design and build truly beautiful structures and began to build bland, tasteless buildings in which functionality replaced beauty.

Previously, architects tried to make even architectural elements hidden from view beautiful, but now even the facades of many buildings have become faceless.

I don’t know what virus modern architects should be infected with if we approach this issue from the position of the proverb that any wedge can be knocked out with another wedge, so that on the roofs of buildings, albeit a little strange, but intricate sculptures, or something else that would tell us about the return of a sense of taste in architecture, would begin to appear again.
