As technology continues to advance the ways of earning money are also evolving. I remember when I was young about ten years ago we used to play paid or free games. But now a new type of games has emerged known as play2earn games which belong to Web3.

In these games players can actually earn while playing. This is undoubtedly an advanced payment based gaming method developed by modern technology and the trend among gamers is gradually increasing.

Now the question arises that is play2earn really the future for gamers or is it just hype?

If play2earn gains more interest among gamers in the future, will the Hive ecosystem and its related games like Splinterlands, Rising Star and other Hive-based games will gain popularity? And will this popularity have an impact on the price of Hive?

Today I will discuss all these topics and share my opinions.

According to a survey around 10% to 15% of gamers worldwide are currently playing play2earn games... On the other hand traditional gamers make up about 65% and the majority still do not understand play2earn games. Concepts like Web3 gaming, NFTs and related technologies are still confusing for many people.

Even today the number of traditional gamers is significantly higher while play2earn gamers are limited to only 10% to 15%.

This can be seen as both good news and bad news.

The good news is that 10% is still a very small number. If this number increases it could significantly impact the price of Hive and other related tokens. As gamers learn more about play2earn their interest will grow and they will start playing games like Splinterlands with more enthusiasm.

The bad news is that even after 7–8 years this ratio has not increased significantly and in some cases has even declined slightly. Sometimes I am surprised why traditional gamers are still stuck in traditional gaming which is often just a waste of time.

There are many gamers who are not very passionate about gaming itself but if they can earn from it they would be more interested. I myself have been a gamer but I am not very interested in playing games anymore. However if there is an opportunity to earn I would definitely play, invest my time and work hard.

Play2earn had a huge hype in 2021 when it was newly launched, involving metaverse concepts, NFT cards and similar ideas. But gradually people's interest started declining. I am not sure whether they did not understand the concept, did not like the earning model or simply did not find the games interesting.

Now if people start understanding play2earn games and begin to trust them what impact will that have on Hive price?

Hive is an excellent blogging ecosystem and a broad platform that offers various activities to users. One of its positive aspects is gaming. Splinterlands is among the top games and is currently attracting many gamers.

If users move toward Splinterlands, start playing this battle card game and understand its earning system they will begin investing in the game and related tokens like Hive. As the number of users increases the price of Hive will automatically rise which is a positive sign.

Now coming back to the main question that is play2earn the future or just hype?

In my opinion without any doubt play2earn games have strong future potential. Gamers will eventually get tired of traditional games because they offer nothing beyond entertainment. On the other hand play2earn games allow you to enjoy gaming while also creating a source of income.

However the real point is that only those play2earn games will succeed which continuously improve their game quality and provide an easy and reliable earning method.

There will be strong competition among platforms in the modern era where each will try to present better games and better earning opportunities to users.

In my view it will gradually gain popularity. It is also important that current users of play2earn games should motivate other gamers and help them understand the earning and gameplay systems so they can be attracted to these platforms.

Even now around 30% of people still do not understand these games. If they properly understand how these systems work and how they can earn they will definitely start joining play2earn games.
