Aside from watching anime, there's another activity that defines my childhood... and that is gaming. I don't play much these days since I don't have any gaming consoles, and I set my PC against gaming because if I did, I don't think I'd have enough motivation to work. hahah I do play mobile games from time to time, though.
I don't think I'm really good at gaming, but I must say I'm pretty decent. In addition, gaming connected me to my male bestie, whom I consider my brother or family now. We played online games way back in high school and university... though he was more addicted than I was. (I actually had to stop gaming when it kind of affected my grades. haha)
Anyway, the reason why I'm reminiscing is because of the Webtoon I'm about to share with you here. Obviously, it's related to gaming... and it's called Double Click.
You can check the original Korean version here, but you can read the English version on the Webtoon website or the app.
It's still an ongoing Webtoon which currently has 194 episodes available on the website, and 205 on the app. Let's talk about it. :)
The main character, Jiho Seong, used to play a game called "One Sword". He wasn't just an ordinary player, as he was the top-ranked player despite his young age. Unfortunately, the game was shut down due to the lack of players.
The game was known to be too competitive and challenging, so it backfired since only a few hundred really good ones were left to play the game.
Since then, he lost all motivation to play competitive games. Well, that... and another reason. One Sword was the only game he could play on his laggy computer. Two years later, he became a freshman in high school.
His best friend, Jinyoung, enjoys playing online games. He forced him to go to the gaming cafe with them to play an FPS (First-Person Shooter) game. Jiho was terrible at it.
As he was to return to his seat in the gaming cafe from the bathroom, he caught a glimpse of a game that caught his interest.
It's oddly familiar to him, except for the graphics. He asked Jinyoung what it was, and he answered, Sword Rush. It's a popular team-based game that seems to be the exact copy of One Sword, the very game Jiho used to play.
Finding his drive to get back into gaming, he decided to take another shot at rising in the new game! And the first step to take was to join the e-sports club in their school. Will he succeed? Read to find out! ^^
I love how cute the main character is. He's like a baby that I want to protect. He's so genuine and just truly and completely in love with gaming, especially One Sword.
The story might sound simple, as it's mostly the characters playing games, but if you're into gaming, you'd definitely enjoy it. The way they form strategy as a group, picking and banning game characters, facing amazing and veteran players, and so on.
The main character might have been the best One Sword player, but he hasn't played for two years... so seeing how he's trying to make up for the years he didn't play is so amazing.
I'm into team action games as well. Though I mostly play either mage or support characters, I could really relate to this Webtoon. Seeing really aggressive healers, or support who ends up carrying the team, made me so excited.
Above is the MC's main pick. It's a support hero which has the lowest pick rate because it's really difficult to control. But here's an interesting spoiler...
! Speerrow was based on his One Sword Character. It was his account name on One Sword. The devs from the new game Sword Rush created this character in honor of the best player of One Sword's ranked games... which is Jiho. So, the skillset and the design was basically reminiscent of his original character. It's so cool~!!!!
The school competition was so exciting to read. I really envy students these days because they can now compete in e-sports in school. If it were a thing when I was a student, there's a huge chance for me to join an e-sports club and participate in such games with my male best friend.
So yeah, this Webtoon is truly special for me. I'm excited to know what happens next to their school team, especially as they embark on
the world of pro-gaming!
If this gets you excited, feel free to read it as well. Thanks for checking out my post. Have an awesome one, and see you around! (^^,)/
The story is really unique. You have presented each character very well. I will definitely try to watch it.
It's a Webtoon, so I hope you enjoy reading it. 😁✨
