Addiction: It Starts With Choice, But Doesn't End There

Addiction isn't a good thing and that's because of it affects people who are it prey, but before I go further, I'll like to explain addiction asa kind of condition that makes an individual becomes big psychologically and physically attached and dependent to something, which could be an habit, substance and the likes and the outcome of such is how it kind of difficult for them to quite despise knowing the negative effect of such addiction. So now that we've understood what addiction is, can we say it's a matter of choice? Is it something people choose to stick with, or is it something they just can't control? Below I'd be stating my take on this subject matter, why my opinion was what it is, and many more, to name but a few.

So is addiction something or a condition people are forced to buy their own choice or not? Well, in my opinion and personally think addiction is a condition that begins by an individual choices, however, despite the fact that addiction begins by choice, I don't agree with that fact that addiction can be sustained by that same choices and why I said so is because by the time a person becomes addicted to things, it becomes a part of them, their daily habits, leading to uncontrollable cravings which gradually kills their self control. And this is why many people who we saw are addicted to something might truly want to stop, but then surprisingly you'll still find them continuing in such habits.

I understand the fact that choice would still play a big role in helping anyone desist from the grip addiction to something have on them, all in saying is that their choice alone can't help them letgo of something they've already grew attached to till the point of such becoming their addiction. Human have a role to play when they want to let go of their addiction, but they can't do it on their own is what I'm simply saying, so the next question we should be asking, is how they can one overcome the grip addiction to an habit, substance and the likes has on them?. Below is my take on it.

Talking about how to ditch or overcome addiction, I'll say the first step in that course is still their choice, but this choice isn't the regular ones we have, it's by such individual having an intentional choice and desire to be free from the captivity addiction as placed them in, secondly, they'll need a strong support system that is most preferable a professional counsellor or therapist that can guide them through ways of gradual abstainnesess from whatever it's they're addicted to, be it a need to get treated or just embark on a change of habits, but above all we must understand that overcoming addiction doesn't happen overnight, it takes time and consistency in the path procured to set them free.

Beyond what I said above, it's worth knowing that I'm not an expert in this field, but then I believe my advice is good enough to help individuals overcome addiction. While I recognize that nature addictions are different, depending on what you're addicted to and what the root cause of such an addiction is. For instance, some addictions are the result of genetics, mental health, stress, environment, and constant exposure to such things. The ability to recognize which is yours is one of the first steps to knowing how to let go, by making a choice that backs up the best way out.

That's true.

That's the bottom line of it all. Eradicating addiction can't be done alone. Affected persons need to seek help if they really made choices to be free
