The Problem Isn't The Invention.

So, for this topic, my simple answer is NO. See, I believe inventors should not be blamed for how we people choose to use their inventions, and here is my reason ,so I will try explain in the most straightforward way that I can.

So it's like this, most inventions are created with very good intentions that I know , I don't need anyone to tell me otherwise, because nobody will wake up one morning and say that "Ehn let me invent something so people can harm others", Never...... That's cannot happen, people invent things to use to solve problems, to make life easier, to improve health, to create convenience, or even just satisfy their curiosity, see at the point of creation, the goal is usually positive, and what happens after that is often completely out of the inventor’s reach.

Okay, let's take drugs for example, so medications are created to heal people right? It is created to reduce pain, or treat illnesses, but then humans come along and abuse them, people overdose, some even sell them illegally, or mix them with other substances to form hard drugs, so ... now are we now going to blame the scientist that spent years in a lab trying to save people lives? Ehn? Omo no na .... that doesn’t sound fair to me in any way, the drug did not jump into someone’s body by itself, someone made the decision to misuse it.

It the same thing with weapons or even our simple tools, like a knife now that was made to cut food etc, a car was made to move people from one place to another, but both have been used to kill people, so do we now blame the person who invented the knife or the first person who built a car? Hmmmm...? If we follow that logic, then almost everything should be banned because almost anything can be turned into a weapon if someone is determined enough to do so.

So now, the real issue here is human choice, an invention does not have a mind of its own, It does not decide what it will be used for, people do, so when someone now repurposes an invention for harm, the blame should rest squarely on that particular person, they are the ones that made the conscious decision to use it wrongly.

Now, I am not saying inventors should not be responsible at all, I think there is a difference between creating something and being careless about its consequences, If an inventor knowingly creates something harmful and release it without safeguards, warnings, or regulations, then yes, there should be accountability, but that is a different conversation, that one is about negligence or intentional harm, not the invention itself.

In most cases, inventors don’t control how their creations spread, especially in our today’s world, once something enters, it takes on a life of its own, people go ahead to modify it, copy it, improve it, or even misuse it, now blaming the inventor for every bad outcome is like blaming a teacher because a student chose to do something wrong with the knowledge that they gained.. Not okay to me.

Seriously, we also need to ask ourselves, if we start blaming inventors for misuse,.shey won’t that kill innovation? People will now becomee afraid to create something new, every invention will come with fear ,“What if someone uses this badly?” our economy progress will slow down, and the society will suffer for it.

So to me, the responsibility just lies with the perpetrators and not the creators, we should try focus more on the laws, education, and accountability for misuse rather than pointing our fingers at the people who were simply trying to contribute something useful to the world.

Bad use doesn’t cancel good intention, humans make choices, inventions don’t, And that is where the blame should stay.
