Pearl vs. Free Food: A Tough Choice for a Foodie

It has been 3 days since I was able to share content on Hive. After thinking about it, I have been able to successfully balance my life by being able to publish content every day. This time last week, I wrote a post about writing every day for just a week, and I thought I would be able to do the same this week.

On Thursday, I travelled back home to Lagos and just before doing that, I had to make sure to attend @creativepearl's signing out as I don't know when exactly I would be back if I leave without signing on her.

The reason for my travelling to Lagos was because my church had an anniversary, which I needed to attend, and it came at the perfect time when I really needed to go home. In the place where I stay in school, as I said in my previous post, the pumping machine got damaged, which means that there would not be water in that apartment pending the time the pumping machine is fixed.

I don't know how long the fix would take, but it is highly possible that it would take up to a week, and a week without water can be terrifying. One of the things I hate the most is having to fetch water from another neighbourhood or from another apartment.

This is why I may be giving myself a week of vacation at my parent's house before going back. The only downside is that I may not be as productive as when I am in my own place. At my place, I have greater productivity and a little more comfort because of my work table and chair, which I do not have here. I also have less privacy here compared to my place, as sometimes I like to be alone with nobody around me, which I cannot have at my parent's place.

The advantage to all this is also more comfort; I would spend less money and also enjoy water at home during this period. I would not have to bother about what to cook; instead, my mom would make everything settled and in place.

Another advantage is electricity; I don't have to buy gas or fuel with my money at home. Everything is made available for me, which all equates to spending less money during the week. I would be able to save on all those expenses I would be making.

Imagine having to take dinner yesterday and wake up the next day to see that food is ready. It has been a long time since I ate once a day most times when I was at my place, and the food was not as nice as the one Momma cooked.

Now I have eaten morning food, taken a nap to find afternoon food is made ready on the dinning table for me to eat. 🥺🥺

The only thing that is making me not choose to stay at home, even with all these advantages, is that I would miss Pearl. Now that she is done with school, she has more time to hang out with me, unlike before, and now I am at home. If I were around, she would have probably visited me today, but no, she can't until I am back at my place.

Last Saturday was Pearl and I's one-year anniversary since we started dating, and it would have been nice to have her around to chill and talk about life, personal goals, our plans, and most importantly, eat and watch Netflix together.

I am now placed between staying the week at my parent's place, enjoying water, free food, free electricity, and having enough money to save, going back to school and facing problems with water, spending money for electricity, worrying about food to eat, and missing work (IT) for a week, but I would have Pearl coming around to visit me.

This is a very hard decision to take 🥺🥺🥺 and I don't know which to take. As a foodie, I lose my senses when free food is on the table. I don't have anything to say again.
