A THIN LINE IN LOVE

Love is indeed a beautiful thing, although it's complicated, those in it can't deny the beauty in it. It's beautiful to always have someone to come to after a rough or great day, it's beautiful to always have someone to share your life, dreams and fears with. It's beautiful to always have someone to plan and execute with. It's beautiful when you know there's always someone who would do anything to make you happy even though they aren't your parent or sibling. Deciding to spend the rest of your life with such a person is a beautiful thing, so why spoil it by trying to put a string to it. If you love them you would naturally want to share everything you have with them, I mean it's one of the many reasons you decided to spend the rest of your life with them. But then again, you won't want them to break your heart and rob you of everything you worked so hard for and decided to share with them.

It's okay for someone to choose to leave your life after spending years with them, it's okay for someone you love to wake up one morning and decide they no longer love you. It's okay for someone you spent a fortune on out of love to decide to tell you to stop and let them go for whatever reason they bring up and you have no authority to hold them back because it's their life and their choice. I say it's okay not because it's really okay, but because I understand that we don't have power over the way others choose to see us or treat us so we can do nothing but respect their decisions. What is not okay is to see someone who once meant everything to you now look at you and feel they can leave your life and take away half of the things you own not because you actually owe them anything, but because they feel they should have it.

At this point if you want to be sure of a person's intentions towards you, then I think it's okay to seek a prenuptial agreement. This is not because you don't trust them, but because no matter how you love them the only person you could say you love without any reason at all would not be them but probably the child you have with them. Knowing that the future is uncertain, a prenuptial agreement could clearly state how the couple intend on managing and sharing their assets upon separation which could be by divorce or death. A prenuptial agreement has both its advantages and disadvantages for one you get to know how your partner views you, there are partners who would prefer their siblings to have their assets than their spouse, at this point you know that you come second to them.

A lot of people just think divorce when they hear a prenuptial agreement, but it's more than that. It involves all forms of separation. In a prenuptial agreement, a person could give the spouse control of their assets in case of death but give ownership of those assets to their kids. The only acceptable line I would agree on is that both partners love each other enough to understand that their assets gotten as a result of individual effort should be left as individual benefit. Making them work hard on themselves individually to gain their own assets. Any other assets gained collectively can be shared between them, but the assets gotten from individual hard work should be left with the individual to decide how it will be managed upon any form of separation.

I am very much willing to agree with you as regards the control of individually gained assets versus those collectively acquired.
However, prenuptial agreement is often carried out before the actual marriage except I am wrong, and committing one's resources may seem a little risky especially in this part of the world

Yes it's before marriage. That's why it's not just commiting one's resources, but securing all present and future assets

I totally support this and I feel this is the best .

Prenups would have saved a lot of men, especially some celebrities who ended up financing gold diggers lives just because they were together, briefly.
